If in a pub i'll have a pint of tennents. I don't like beer from a tin, so at home i normally go for tyskie or kronenbourg.

:50: I'm mostly a CO. beer drinker nowadays, but Stone Brewing are fine brewers. One of the top.3 in the States, IMO. My personal favourite is this one:

Other than American beers, I love a pint of Smithwicks. If done right, it is hard to beat. Pilsner Urquell is one of the better ones on the continent. Not as easy to come by here, so I've been making do with this local one named after myself:

Makes me think of Upslope's Thai Style white IPA, which I personally think is great. Worth trying if you come across it. :50:

Have to be careful with this brew . 7.0 ABV . Too many of these and you may pass out on the couch and * it .

A lot of the American beers are good. It's also great how well supported they are. Loads of bars keep a wide range on draft.

The one thing that does confuse me though, although the Americans are strict on selling alcohol, loads of bars don't mention how strong these beers are.

We meet up with people in Philadelphia in a bar and they were drinking Morgans and Coke, I was having pints of a beer I liked. For some reason I didn't quite notice how * I was until the following morning. I was still a jibbering wreck and the pictures the night before with the police truck proved that!

Turns out the stuff I was drinking was not far short of 12% alcohol. No wonder I was * when I was drinking it like normal lager.

Really, surely Guinness is more of a stout than a beer?
What actually defines beer as beer?

    Beer is the family.

    Lager
    Stout
    Heavy
    Bitter
    Ale

    all beers.

Guinness is meh! Will drink it if there's no Ale or Heavy. I do like Guinness original and will order that sometimes regardless of whether there is Ale or Heavy. But not Guinness draught. Meh!

The best for me is a slightly colder than room temperature bottle of Fraoch heather ale. Nothing like it.

Sadly it's not widely available so I tend to drink Caffrey's, McEwans 70/80, Belhaven Best, St Andrews and so on.

Also, if any I've mentioned are your "thing", I implore you to try Black Isle Brewery's "Yellowhammer".

Tried a couple of pints of an American IPA called Red Star Rogue Brutal in a local Wetherspoons recently. Was the the dogs baws. Smooth to drink, but with a kick like a mule. Instantly my new favourite beer.
