The atmosphere at big Celtic games: What ones let you down slightly/greatly?

The next qualifier will get 60,000. Was watching some old clips on youtube from previous years games and stumbled across the match vs Croatia Zagreb... attendance was 51,000.

 

The whole country isn't skint. The game is on the season ticket and you can buy tickets for £20.

 

Not at Parkhead though the Semi Final v Hearts last year at Hamp-dump. Considering it was the week after we won the league it seemed pretty subdued, didn't help that I was sat in front of the biggest * moaning panic merchant out; you know the type, screams for about 8 players to be subbed after they misplace a pass and seems to only go to vent his anger at the world rather than get behind the team.

 

I was sitting next to a woman like that at the home game against St. Johnstone last season when we won 2-0. Samaras had a good game that day but from about the 1st minute onwards all she did was shout "load of mince" "rubbish Celtic" and "Get Samaras and Loovens off".

It was quite amusing when Samaras scored the opening goal because she never opened her mouth again for the rest of the match.

 

Although we won the game, I thought the atmosphere against United in 2006 was quite poor until after the game.

I think it was all part of Ferguson’s gameplan. Keep the ball, keep the crowd quiet.

People say they dominated us. I’m not sure that is an accurate description, neither side had any decent chances until the free kick and penalty.

It was a pretty dire game up until the last 10 minutes.

I have to say, I was also quite disappointed with the atmosphere at Ibrox back in March when we had the chance to go and win the league. We weren’t quiet. But we just didn’t seem to be ripping into the Filth that much.

We forget how much people 60,000 is imo just because its the capacity of our stadium.

Would Man U or Arsenal or Bayern etc get 60,000 fans for a CL qualifier against Helsinki, absolutley no danger. So it just shows how good our fans are that we can get close to it.

Dynamo Kiev played Feyenoord at home last night, thats a massive qualifier with 2 closely matched teams. Kievs stadium holds 70,000, the population of the City of Kiev is 2.7million. Yet only 28,000 went.
