The 2013/2014 Dutch Eredivisie Thread

It's time for a new thread for the Dutch Eredivisie.
I try to keep this one a bit more updated than the last one.

This was the league table at the end of last season.



VVV Venlo and Willem II were relegated to first division.
Go Ahead Eagles and Cambuur Leeuwarden were promoted to the Eredivisie.

Good to see Feyenoord getting a grip. Got some fantastic young dutch players at the club. Would love to see them win something next year.

Imagine having these 3 in the same team Ajax are very lucky to have so many great players play for them

 

I love the Eredivise, one of my favorite leagues. I usually support Ajax because of their history and because they always churn out the next stars of Europe. I also have a soft spot for AZ but that's just because Jozy Altidore plays for them and I'm American.

That being said I am disappointed that Adam Maher joined PSV and I really hope Jozy doesnt leave for the EPL yet.

 

Jordy Clasie has today put pen to paper on a new three year deal to stay with Feyenoord the club have confirmed.

The midfielder had been heavily linked with a move to Serie A side Fiorentina earlier in the summer, but has today quashed any chances of leaving Feyenoord.

Clasie is a product of the clubs youth academy, and the 22 year old has played 71 times for Feyenoord over the past two seasons. His style of play has seen him labelled the Dutch Xavi by media.

So far, Clasie has five full caps for the Dutch international side, and was part of the U21 squad that reached the Semi-finals of the recent European Championships in Israel.

Speaking after signing his new deal, Clasie told the official website, “This is my fourth contract with the club, but it’s definitely not boring. I am very happy that I stay at Feyenoord longer.”

“With Feyenoord we have made great strides over the last two years, and in the coming seasons, I really want to play the prizes.”

Club director Martin van Geel added, ”Its not for nothing that he signs his fourth contract here. Jordy is honored to play for Feyenoord. That is very important for us.”

Feyenoord fans will be delighted that Clasie has followed club captain Stefan de Vrij, by pledging his future to the club, while question marks still hang over Bruno Martin Indi’s time in Rotterdam, with AC Milan linked.

With VVV being relegated I suppose I will have to observe this thread rather than contribute

stadium tours on offer.....don't think it will take long to get round it...as long as they let you come down the players stairs then am made up haha

 

I don't even have the slightest care for any club in the world except Celtic but the one exception I do make is for Ajax. I hate the way modern football is and they're a total breath of fresh air. The number of young players they bring through is outstanding.

Frank De Boer was a fantastic player and seems an excellent manager too.

 

Shouldnt be too expensive either.

I wonder if any of all the players who walked down those stairs in all them years, have injured himself by missing a step. :smiley-laughing002:
