They don't see them as Muslims though. They either follow a different form of Islam or in the case of gay Muslims go totally against the scriptures of the Quran which in their eyes is enough to warrant being killed.

I take it this is only applicable to attacks in Western society? What is the foreign policy of Iraq, where there are dozens of attacks each year? What about Syria? Afghanistan? Pakistan? What are their foreign policies and why did this cause Muslim extremists to bomb their cities? Or would you say it's more to do with the crazed Islamists wanting to further and install the Worldwide Caliphate?

We should sit down with the terrorists, have a nice cup of tea and tell them they'll get a jaffa cake to go with it if they stop doing the naughty things. If this doesn't work then we should write a strongly worded letter to our local MP.

Even liberals arent suggesting Islam doesn't have a problem with violence. In fact all of Muslims Iv spoken to acknowledge this.

Where have you heard it suggested that Islam doesnt currently have a problem with extremism? If your suggesting youv read something like that on here can you quote it?

I think that's pretty much the best we can hope for in all honesty. There's really no short term fix here, people will just have to accept it as a risk in any major city across the globe. There is no solution to stopping a man driving a truck into a group of people wether he does it in the name of religion or something else. I suppose the intelligence services could play a vital part, but then people will always get through the net.

As frequent as these things are becoming I really don't let them affect anything in my day to day life, because the statistical chance of me being affected by a terrorist attack is still ridiculously small. Having said that i wouldn't be rushing to Iraq or Syria just now, but as far as avoiding major cities outside of conflict zones across the globe, not a chance.

The truth is mate if Muhammad was alive today he would be called a "Wahhabi" and people would say of his version of Islam "that's not real Islam". Nawaz is not a Muslim he's only a cultural Muslim that means he was born a Muslim and that's it. The Ahmadis are small sect most Muslims view them as non-Muslims even the Sufi Muslims which is seen as more progressive as they allow Music and have often only fought Jihad when they had to they are seen as heretics by most Muslims. Muslims and Islam are 500 years behind most Christians. Muslims are fighting the same sort of wars that Christians fought. People blame the Saudis but they have the most knowledge about Islam in the world. it's all about opinions if it's real Islam or not and what I mean by that is the people we call terrorists they will just say they are fighting legit jihad.

Youre absolutely right about that in my opinion, but they are definitely terrorising us, all of us. I cant believe there is even one among us, who doesnt do a double take or have a fleeting negative thought, every time we board a train, or go to a match, or be in a busy shopping mall etc etc and see what we perceive as a muslim, or Asian person, particularly if they are young, * and male.

Have you read this article i posted in the other thread?
How did we create those who terrorised the individuals of the literary world who dared to say boo about Islam? We may have exacerbated the situation greatly.....but this was coming anyway. Al Qaeda have been on the go since the 90s have they not?

You never eliminate it completely. You can clamp down on it but never get stop it.

If a few people, working in a small group, decide that they want to inflict maximum terror there is very little that can be done to to stop them.

    http://freakonomics.com/2007/08/08/if-you-were-a-terrorist-how-would-you-attack/

'My general view of the world is that simpler is better. My guess is that this thinking applies to terrorism as well. In that spirit, the best terrorist plan I have heard is one that my father thought up after the D.C. snipers created havoc in 2002. The basic idea is to arm 20 terrorists with rifles and cars, and arrange to have them begin shooting randomly at pre-set times all across the country. Big cities, little cities, suburbs, etc. Have them move around a lot. No one will know when and where the next attack will be. The chaos would be unbelievable, especially considering how few resources it would require of the terrorists. It would also be extremely hard to catch these guys.'

If an individual is working on his/her own it could become even more difficult to stop them. If David Copeland decides that he is going to work on his own, detonate a few nail bombs that are relatively easy to assemble, cheap to make and made of everyday objects, how do you stop him?

Holidaymakers on a beach, fans at football stadiums, people relaxing in cafes, people at a public celebration, airports, metro stations......nothing is sacred with these morons. They are now attacking us in such a way that they are creating a climate of fear out of every innocuous scenario imaginable.

Maybe we were too eager to make the world multi cultural....maybe we arent ready for it.

It's smart to always have an eye on an exit route from a room and a plan in the back of your head. Fortunately not living in the states/Europe means it's not at the forefront of my mind but still have to plan for the rare lone nutter.

Especially when certain cultures are so so different to ours. The West and The middle east/place in North Africa are two completely different worlds.

Me and my girlfriend were in Nice 2 weeks ago. Her family are from there and we go over frequently. Can't bear to watch the news with the sight of the Promenade.
