    Welcome to Celtic, Teemu Pukki

Haha. If it wasn't for that hatrick last week he'd only be 2 behind Stokes. Can't see Commons getting many more now with Griffiths in the team but he'll still end up our top scorer.

Watch the game again, he was playing well. Or do you want him to be a lazy * and walk about. I take it you missed him slipping with the ball when taken two players on and still getting it out of his feet beating them and making a tidy pass.:50:

Took his goal very well on Saturday I thought. Good to see that he still had the confidence to take it on himself, because a player with no self belief would have played it to Commons for a tap in.

I thought the same... if he'd had any doubts he'd have laid it off... good to see that all our forwards linked up or were available in that play...

I know exactly what you mean, think it's going to be the same way with Leigh Griffiths for me. Just not going to be able to take to him.

I hope that the goal gives him the confidence and impetus he needs to start scoring goals here because he needs to vitally.

Pukki and Balde to stay at Celtic

TEEMU Pukki and Amido Balde will be given the chance to prove themselves at Celtic after Neil Lennon kicked out loan moves for both players last month.

Lennon said: ‘There was plenty of interest in both of them, but we wanted to keep them here. They will play more of a part between now and the end of the season.”

Balde teed up Pukki to score Celtic’s second goal in the 2-0 win over Hearts on Saturday and the Finnish striker could start against Aberdeen in Pittodrie tonight. (Daily Mail)

Between Balde, Pukki and Griffits for the 2 starting positions for me. Watt comes back for next season, sell on Stokes and start bringing Atajic and Fridj through.

Honestly see a cracking player in Pukki, if only we can play him with a partner up front. It's clear for all to see that's what he needs - along with Balde.

Maybe give it another season then get rid of stokes but his time at Celtics basically done with, he's as good as he's gonna get and thats not good enough for the champions league. Pukki on the other hand deserves his chance there's definitely a player there he just needs to grow in confidence

Hear me out. Assuming we aren't going to be selling Pukki or Balde, we have just signed Griffiths and Fridj, who won't be moving on either. Watt returning from loan - unless a serious offer comes in for him, he is in contention. And young Atajic should be breaking in to the action as well over the next two seasons. That's a lot of strikers we have on our books. Watt we know will come good, Pukki and Balde are showing in flashes what they can do, and both come with continental experience(not saying CL experience, but playing on the continent). Stokes has proven now to be a solid SPFL player, but unable to make that jump up to Euro level - Griffiths has also shown he is of the same calibre (if not better?) at the league level, but will be given the chance to step up next season. It leaves Stokes as the (yes tried and tested at this level) only one who sort of doesn't have a future with us. Balde and Pukki need worked on, as does Griffiths. We've taken Stokes as far as he can go I reckon.

Not meaning he isn't good enough to stay, I'd happily keep him if we could, but with the pool of strikers we have, we either punt him and try the other guys, or we stick by him, and punt the untried, which could be punting someone who could do better than what we know Stokes can do.

Next season I'd go with Stokes and Griffiths up front, with Balde and Pukki as the back-up partnership, pushing them for a starting place. Would send Atajic, Fridj and Watt on loan. With the improvement Watt seems to have made, I think another season in the Belgian league (or similar) could see him returning to us as our first choice striker.

Don't quite see what other people seem to see in Pukki but I'll give him till the end of the season, he just doesn't seem to have anything about him.

    Very harsh to say that.

To put it in a right way he's really fast, has an astonishing and surprising shot at goal, has a soft touch and a good ability to feed the ball into open spaces, can take the ball, turn&shoot while running. He moves smart in front of the goal and tries to find an open space for himself. But this is not always noticed by other players. Feeding to him has been mostly poor.

When Pukki came at last to Celtic Park, he missed the pre-season and some of the first games. He wasn't in the best of his form and the surroundings were new to him. I noticed that his running speed was lower and contact with the ball was poorer than usually.

In December and specially beginning in the Antalya Cup he's clearly found his former form. Now he's even more aggressive that I didn't saw before.
