That word potential actually annoys me when players are 18-19 and more ,the Dutch and the French and the English all play young guys ,if there old enough then there ready ,we talk of potential with guys at the age of 23-24 they should be seasoned pro's by then .

Caldwell and McManus have had plenty time to sort themselves out and it obvious it isnt working so time for someone else and this guy Thompson is next in line ,get him in and let him settle .

That is what I say. It is called natural progression. We haven't got the time or inclination to sit around any longer and hope it all comes good. We have a league to win.If an established player/s are no longer producing the goods over a period of time, then it is natural selection to give other untested guys at this level the chance to see what they can do.

I still remember Federico Macheda becoming an instant hero for the Red Devils at only 17.

With Boruc, Maloney and Brown all definitely out injured, McManus suspended and Loovens a doubt I'd have to go for the following:

    Zaluska

    Hinkel Caldwell Thompson Fox

    McGeady Crosas N'Guemo McGinn

    Fortuné McDonald

I didn't realise McManus was suspended (not that it matters as i wouldn't have him in anyway)

Anyone who says Thompson hasn't a clue, he is far from ready for the first team, he doesn't even stand out for the reserves.

I've not seen him in the reserves, but what I do know is managers at the top would sooner play experienced heads out of position or risk slightly unfit guys than throw a youngster into a pressure position like CB at a pressure club like Celtic.

Hence McCulloch at Rangers for example and I'm sure there was a recent example in the EPL recently (was it Blackburn who had 4 full-backs in their back-line at one point?) can't really remember.

Therefore expect to see someone like Zhi, Fox or even Robson at CB if Loovens or Caldwell can't make it.

In terms of other selection, I think it's nigh time Niall McGinn got a start after his MOTM international performance against an all-star Serbia. I'd sooner play him than McCourt (who had a pretty quiet game last time out). McCourt should stick to impact duties imo.

Maloney isnt fit and id go with McGinn ahead of McCourt as McCourt was awful against Falkirk and done absolutely nothing!

I would play Mcginn over Maloney when Maloney is 100%fit

Nah no way, if Maloney is fit and on form he is a very important player for us. McGinn is a very average player in my opinion, have seen nothing special about him and I have absolutely no idea what everyone see’s in him apart from the fact he has a bit of pace about him.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

The on form bit here is important, Maloney hasn't been on form in a lot of games this season. McGinn has the speed and is direct, he doesn't tend to run in to players like Maloney, or try to take it past one too many like McGeady and McCourt have a tendancy to do.

Although McGeady and McCourt are more skillful in beating their man, McCourt hasn't shown he can cope with 2 games a week which is why I'd have McGinn ahead of McCourt.

As for McGinn ahead of Maloney, I wouldn't have a problem with that as McGinn has looked good whenever he's gotten the chance and I don't think there is that much difference in ability between the two of them.

McGinn can definitely do a job for us imo.

Your entitled to your own opinion :50: I just don't see anything special about McGinn whatsoever from what ive seen but i don't think I or any of us have really seen enough of him to judge him.

Can I ask Dannighirl... what would you say the difference between McGeady and McGinn is? Basically would you drop McGeady for McGinn as you would Maloney?

McGinn actually starts for Northern Ireland ahead of McCourt. So clearly a fairly respected manager in Worthington sees a fair bin in young Niall. Also his international performances have been superb, and in my view he's looked great coming on for us. Definitely due a start, hopefully one day can usurp Maloney in the long-term, might stop the * taking all our free-kicks!!

I think it would be hard on Sammy if he was dropped on Sunday imo he has been our best player in the last few games maybe a stint at LM would suit him the game changed for us when he was moved ther against Falkirk .

Anyone know what the score is with brown its all went a bit quiet on that front ?

That's not very nice :38: Why do you think he takes our free-kicks? Obviously the best of a bad bunch if you ask me.

    I can't stand Sammy, he think's he's a winger....

Brown isn't fit for Sunday anyway but no idea how long he is out for mate.

If McGeady was off form then yes I'd drop him for McGinn.

McGeady is better at getting by players but McGinn is more direct.

I'd rather have an on form McGeady over either Maloney or McGinn but if he wasn't on form I'd have no problem putting McGinn in.

Sorry but you sound like my nan. I actually like an on form Maloney but his selfish free-kick obsession really does my nut in. I refer to him as a * like I would if talking flippantly about/with my mates in a jokey way. If you find that comment hard to take how do you manage at CP?
