    The problem with Celtic in Europe isn't so much the defence it is the fact that our midfield can't retian possession for any length of time. They lose the ball and bring pressure back on to the defence. Of course they are going to make mistakes if they are facing wave after wave of attack without respite.

    During Euro away matches and sometimes during the league it seemed that most of the midfield were either hiding from getting the ball or not goof enough to control and retain it. Also, if McGeady was marked out the game then rest of the midfield were lost looking for an out ball.

    The exact thing happened when Scotland were playing in Italy. Only Ferguson was good enough to control the ball and make the easy pass, keeping it out of trouble.

    Interestingly after the Middlesboro friendly one of the players said that WGS had asked them just to practise keeping possession for long spells without really pressing for an opening. I noticed that for long periods we didn't let Boro have a sniff and if we play like that away from home then we are sure to pick up some results this year (he hopes).

    Now see this is where WGS must take enourmous credit. Pre-season friendlies are a time to try different formations and different things.

    * winning all your pre-season games when you can adjust the team for when the real games begin.

    well said i loved how well we kept possesion before the goal against porto, and u can tell we were working on that by the celebrations from strachan, like a big yaaaas it * worked!

    The problem withour defence was last year when they made mistakes they cost us games and points, but when rangers made mistakes they tended to get away with them.

    We were the better team defensivly just our mistakes cost us more.

    Because he has been there and done it. He has been in the semis of the CL. Look I like skippy but although he got a good few goals for me he was very huffy especially when he was taken off and screamed at strachan before punching the dugout.

    As for the champs league. would you rather we got to last 16 of the champs league and lost the league? Its all about priorities. I like us getting to the last 16 but at the end of the day to get there we need to win the league so that is our priority
