lol...you rate Senderos higher than Caldwell. infact "10 times more."

obviously you don't watch alot of EPL games. i live north London and i'm surrounded by Gooners and Yids and go to Arsenal games (if Celtic aren't on at the same time) when friends have spare tickets (i hate Spurs. they completely overrate their team). i can categorically say, Senderous is not that good and is not the defender to solve our problems.

wow! he beat 3 other players for the vacant centre back space. do you know why? Diarra is a natural defensive mid, Djourou is an extremely poor centre back and is naturally a right back (though he can play defensive mid too) and Sagna has probably never played centre back in his life (certainly hasn't in an Arsenal shirt and was injured for most of the CL games, especially after Xmas).

so to conclude, he was the only natural centre back available and free from injury, competing against these three players that you named for a place that only he was naturally positioned in.

p.s. please buy a dictionary. i have dyslexia, but you are something else.

Only for half a season. When he went back to Arsenal in January he was in contention for a starting place but he got injured.

he found himself in a situation where O'Dea would find himself in if McManus or Caldwell got injured.

As i've said before, i'm glad the deal is dead if he's only after cash. Heard stories about his party lifestyle too which i don't think Strachan would be too keen on. The way i look at it, he has let Kennedy go out on loan. He's also said Bobo can go for fre. That leaves us with 3 centre backs. There's no way he'd go into the new season with only 3 CBs so i'm sure he's going to sign 1 or two before the transfer deadline passes!

    What do yous think?

In the current climate, i'm actually very surprised he let Kennedy go in the first place! I like O'Dea, but that's not at all enough cover as of yet - we will HAVE to invest in a CB - just hope we don't end up panic purchasing some half player for more money than needed..

I know this may not be popular but I feel we are desparate for a solid CB.

Neither McManus nor Caldwell are imposing/ hard/solid/ commanding enough.

Sorry, but that's my opinion. Hey ho...:icon_mrgreen:

I agree entirely dude - had hoped that Kennedy would pick up where he left off after coming back from thet Romanian f^cker's tackle, but it was not to be - O'Dea is not NEAR the finished article, Bobo showed against Cardiff how bad his concentration can be, and so we need reinforcements (or, even better, replacements!)

the belief in and huge well of good will there is for OD is a total mystery to me. I just dont rate the guy. I dont even think he looks great in the reserves. He has no pace, is weak in the air and is very weak and unbalanced when passed on the right. He has been dining off the CL games (when he played way above himself) and IMO has looked shaky in about 80% of domestic games he has played. He also has been very uncovincing in the friendlies this summer. I honestly dont see him making it. He is not even near the same league of promise as Caddis IMO and is not a patch on the talent that was JFK at the same age. To me all he is is a 2nd McManus but without the experience and strength. OD was put on a pedestal by so many tims its bizzare but I can see others slowly coming round to the understanding that he is not near good enough.

His only chance at Celtic is if he goes away to a championship team for a whle year, plays most games, learns his trade and really shines. WGS has played almost all out CBs ahead of him last season and he knows a lot more about the game and the player than us. So we definately need to sign a new CB. At the very least we need 3 ready to step in CBs and I think with Balde, Elvis and JFK away we only have Gary and Mick in that category.

Excellent post dude, and i respect your thoughts very much - notably with Caddis who i reckon will end up getting the RB berth ahead of Hinkel... only time will tell though.

I still like O'Dea, and although i was NOT impressed with him after x-mas last year, i don't want to give up on him yet.. Still need at least 1 more CB though, of that you are absolutely correct.

I have said this will be his downfall from day one and i agree there is a huge amount of good will placed on him with unrelative basis.

If Caldwell had made the pass back to Brown that O'Dea had last week this board would have been crippled with threads about how he's rotten and should be shot at the knackers yard. At the very most there was a rippling of discontent as it was O'Dea.
