Signing on fee, relegation clauses (not any worries about that in this case!), appearance fees (also not relevant here), goal / assist bonuses, release clauses.....

A lot of p^sh to be worked through, but it's been shown to be an easy process in some cases - sadly not here tho!

I'm not saying anything mate, why are you getting wound up over protracted negotiations? Does it matter if he signed after 1 day of talks or 4 weeks?

It was always going to take time as he has a network of agents, misguided or otherwise that's just the way it is.

Despite this plethora of agents he has surrounding him (all wanting as lucrative a cut as possible, understandably), i take these lengthy negotiations to be an indicator - right or wrong - of a lack of passion on his part for this move. People can say a lot about Samaras, but at least he was willing to take a pay cut to come here as he really has a love for the club after his little stint here before - to this end, i am a large fan of his already. With Tamas, there isn't that same feeling whatsoever - his track record is similar to Anelka's in some regards - (the Tiger Woods comment made previosuly was very apt), and a combination of these factors has me more than a tad anxious. As every day goes on, THAT is what irks me, mi compadre.:celt_2:

    Fair enough.

I'll personally wait until such times as he pulls on a jersey and struts his stuff before commenting on his attitude and desire. The number of clubs he's played at is off putting admittedly but protracted contract negotiations don't worry me in the slightest. It's human nature to want to be paid as much as you can for what you do just as much as it is business for a club like Celtic to try and offer as little as possible.

    Hauners ?

I think you need some back-up with your view point Hammer.

I cant understand why people are getting so wound up over this. Dont believe everything you read in the papers or other sites guys.

Contracts/Contract negotions arent as simple as Tamster makes out. Its no secret that the nature of the contracts we are offering allow for a slightly lower weekly wage but with larger performance related bonuses.
To me performance related contracts for footballers seems to be the way forward (no more high earners sitting back earning £30k a week for sitting on the reserve bench)
Peter Lawell is working on this signing to improve the strength of the playing squad as well as maintaining the clubs financial strength.

In short he is working in all of our interests, have faith.

My view point is based on the fact i don't believe everything i read from a tabloid newspaper or an internet rumours site, what type of 'back up' are you wanting?

I agree with that stance 100%, i must agree - and my levels of frustration are not directed WHATSOEVER to a man who has orchestrated the long-term futures of the big 3.

I would just have thought that bearing in mind the actual TERMS of the contract must be being scrutinised to the most minor of details, the duration of these talks is very surprising. That and the fact that he will be more than trebling the money he's on anyway!

I think it's you that couldn't be "more simpler".

Transfers take time, this has perhaps taken longer than Pat McCourt but that's because it's a big signing with lots of agents involved. I can't wait for the announcement.

Think you missed my point or i put it the wrong way.

We all know these things have the small print to iron out as per usual.

My point is that Celtic MUST have the bottom line offer they are prepared to pay.

How long does it take to say "take it or leave it" ???

All this commotion over a guy that NOBODY else apparently wants to sign !

here mate.... how long does it take to sign a contract ???
Lawell should just have put a take it or leave it offer, it shouldnt be a hard decision. Its not that the negotiations are easy its the choice of club which SHOULD alone be enough to make this guy sign. Yeah i know that lots of agents are involved but its the player who makes the final decision.

    Your the simpleton

i think some of us needs a time out from this transfer. alot of fustration over prolonged negotiations. we better get used to it as i see it becoming a regular theme with future signings.

you should have a pint of Guinness during this period. as they say, 'good things comes to those who wait.'
