how people change ther minds is unreal, the majority didnt like caldwell especially after the barca game for his howler and how can people say mcmanus need replace TBH hes carried the defence all season along with boruc IMO, caldwell may have played well in the 2 crucial old firm games but in the champions league he has made high profile mistakes, benfica and barca come to mind

 

mcmanus has certainly not carried the defence all season. players are surely picked on recent performances and as result caldwell should be in ahead of mcmanus.

 

caldwell has been far better than mcmanus over the course of last season, remember mcmanus's howler against shakhtar in the cl, the only reason peoplre say mcmanus is better is becasuse they automatically feel compelled to think that caldwell is *, some people on this site obviously don't follow celtic as much as they let on, or they would stop slating caldwell, i think that when/if we get tamas eventually the partnership will be caldwell/tamas, and the captaincy thing isn't too much of a problem because caldwell is v-captain anyway

 

The criticism of Caldwell is imo very harsh and way over the top.

For me one mistake apart Caldwell was on of our best players in the Champions League. Too many people form their opinion because of what the press say.

It is ridiculous to suggest that Caldwell only had 8 good games all season.

 

The Captain thing is a huge mistake in my opinion. Lord knows why Boruc doesn't wear it... he and Robson strike me as being the gut and souls of this team and both men enough to sit on the bench without getting offended if they were off form. Robson hasn't been here long enough though. Perhaps Boruc' antics hurt his credibility with the front office?

 

robson has only been in the team since january wgs cant just say mick im giving the armband to this new guy

 

yes i agree with that ,but GS is the man in charge and if he wanted too ,why not ,he is the boss,but more likely it wouldnt happen

the problem is your captain is automatically undroppable, and one player only qualifies for this and that is boruc

I agree I rate Caldwell more than McManus.

Caldwell brings a lot more to the team in his passes and distribution.

good news, hopefully tomorow, wages will be done and he will be signed.
And caldwell is are top centre half atm. Has had some big msitakes and people jsut wont drop them

In response to Hoopy -- I don't think the captain has to be undroppable, so long as he's not a little girl or fragile ego. But, as I and paul note, Robson doesn't have the seniority.

 

fair point but it would be best to have a captain thats not going to get dropped although the best players dont always make the best captains

Mick is probably captain because he holds a lot of respect in the changing rooms from what i've heard

last night on real radio news at 12,1 and 2 o"clock in the morning it said Celtic have agreed a 3.5milion price with tamas"s club but personal terms are still ongoing


then it switched to strachan himself and he said when asked the tamas question,,,,we have targets but im not going to name them as its unfair to club and player ,but we are close to adding to our team ,we are always trying to streanthen our team,but im not nameing anyone out of respect for the player or team as celtic always respect other targetsand there clubs
