who would of thought when Bobo signed the deal that we would both, the club and the player, would go onto find ourselves in this situation? i don't recall anyone condeming Bobo's contract extension at the time.

as for Gravesen, he was seen as a top quality signing by the majority. somethings don't work out. it does not make him a bad business man.

Lawwell is one of the best things thats happend to this club in modern times. certainly our best chief exec the club has ever had.

 

At the time though, they weren't. Balde was one of our top players and everyone was rumbling on about how it would be a disaster if he left. When he signed his contract everyone was praising the celtic board. It wasn't bad business. Remember it was he and McManus who were our CBs the first season. I still reckon we'd have won the league last season and the season before with Balde in instead of Pishy Caldwell.

The Gravesen deal was exactly the same. Everyone was delighted. He was brilliant FFS and to be honest i still think he deserves one more chance. He started off at Celtic brilliantly. His first few games were fantastic but he fell foul of Strachan and that was that. I reckon he should be given one more chance, especially in pre-season. If he's staying, he's going to get the cash anyway so just give him a chance to show what he can properly do!

Riordan on the other hand can get tae *!

 

i think gravesen and riodan should get another chance, i remeber the mistake that made me think... * happened to our bobo was against the man utd game, ronaldo nearly scored but boruc was too good

 

Agreed, i just hope Auxerre dont do a manchester united to real madrid and tell us to * off.

 

won't happen since we are in talks with the player. it'll be illegal to talk to the player without the clubs concent. they will be open to a move.

 

It seems like the £3.5m fee has been agreed, it's all about the wages now.

Exclusive: Celtic close to signing Auxerre and Romania defender Gabriel Tamas

CELTIC were last night closing in on a deal to sign Auxerre's Romanian international defender Gabriel Tamas.
Despite reports in France claiming the transfer was in danger due to the player's wage demands, Hoops chief executive Peter Lawwell is confident of closing the deal.
The SPL champions have agreed a fee of s3.5million with Auxerre for the 24-year-old and more negotiations with Tamas are planned for next week.
The defender is understood to want s32,000 a week to join Gordon Strachan's side and a meeting in Paris on Thursday failed to find a middle ground.
But Celtic, who beat Southampton 2-0 at StMary's last night in a friendly, are so sure they will do business they have called off their bid to land fellowRomanian Dorin Goian, 27, who had been identified if the bid for Tamas failed.

 

i read that too this morning. hopefully will be done in the next few days.

 

I was hoping this deal would done and dusted before Celtic set off on Sun. But its not looking that way now

Played for Romania at the Euros KD looked a solid and classy Centre Back. Did you see any of their games?


The only worry about him is at 24 he´s already had more clubs than Tony Jacklin.

Auxerre defender Gabriel Tamas has rejected Celtic's £14,000 per week salary offer as more talks are expected over the weekend. (The Sun)

 

Read that in the paper, at least he wants more talks.

which suggests he does want to play for us, if lawwell * this up i will kill him.

 

HAHA I was thinking along the same lines myself. Im sure they can find a happy medium. Good for both club & player

 

I'm sure we'll get a deal somewhere in the middle around £20K or something, according to the record we seem pretty confident now.
