I'm picturing a scenario where this supposed nobody comes in from Australia, wins the treble in his first season and then takes us to his homeland while letting Rangers tag along, playing second fiddle to us in the same way that the Harlem Globetrotters opponent used to do. Winning nothing this year would be bad enough, but * me, being involved in our victory tour would be outright humiliating and shameful. So in that sense, I don't hate it.

Doesnt bother me. There's no friendly with these *, and I'll take any opportunity to smash them, and get paid to do it. Only thing I hate is that I wont be there.

I’m also a Wanderers fan and we get to play East Sydney again (which is normally called the Sydney Derby) so any opportunity to pump it to them and remind them who runs this city……

Yeah hopefully they do enforce it because there most likely will be some trouble.. I seen this lad get his head kicked in at my local here in Brisbane about 5 years back by these ex pat huns because he was wearing a celtic shirt lol, funny thing was he didn't even support celtic or watch football he just had a celtic jersey that he wore here and there..

Until recently, Queensland wouldn't even let Australians in!

I was against it. Still am, however, reading on FF how much it is killing them to play second fiddle to us is making me smile.

The monetary amounts being quoted are showing that we are getting paid a bit more than them as well - £5m & £3m. They're seething.

At a guess, what time will the match be on at. If its a night game over there or a saturday game what time will it be on for us. Id say theyd try and make it the best kick off time to suit both sides of the world. IF its a night game over there, i could see trouble. I know im contradicting myself with this and one of my last posts about the fans having bbqs together but some of them ozzys are * bonkers and with all day drinking, hot weather there might be a few rockets that kick it off and everyone jumping on it. 85k fans in the stadium and * knows how much in the city could mean something kicks off. Esp with th eozzy cops not being really prepared for it.

    It's unpopular, but it's happening..

So may as well get on with supporting Ange and the team for the run in..

I personally hope this charade is an unmitigated failure. If not we'll start seeing the 'Old firm' playing friendlies every season. USA, Canada, South Africa.....Heaven preserve us. It's bad enough we have to suffer them 4 times a season as it is.

Fs Celtic. Was giving my mates grief for Leeds and man united playing friendlies last year and saying we’re the only real derby left; “wouldn’t see us playing a friendly” etc. Cheers Celtic, made me look a right *

I don't really care about the Derby still being seen as "real" or "pure".That stopped the moment they died, and the zombies were allowed entry into the 3rd division

Were getting more money from this, we will have more fans at the game and neutral Aussies will probably support us. It will benefit us more than them

I am beginning to come round to the idea that this tour is down to marketing for the SPL and improving the TV money deal.

The first benefit is the Sevconians know that as the tribute act, they are purely second fiddle to the main act. HUN PAIN.

The sevco fans know that their board and Clumpany are so broke, they would not survive November without some revenue coming in to pay the bills and keep the lights on. So we, by inviting them to play second fiddle on Ange’s Victory tour, are engaging in an act of charity to our poor, bitter, bigoted and deceitful, struggling wee neighbour. SEVCO accepting charity from Scottish government and Celtic in one financial year. MORE HUN PAIN.

When the fans come out en mass to support Celtic and their numbers are pitiful and embarrassing, they are again reminded who is the Bigger club, with worldwide fan base and support and better supported. HUN PAIN OVERLOAD.

There’s a lot to enjoy in this particular chess move. Chapeau.

You’re in for a shock, and a display of what us Aussie football fans put up with. The cops are so used to the happy clappers at every other sport, that they simply don’t understand football fans passion, and that simply chanting can invoke a bit of pepper spray. They go way over the top. Guaranteed they will have the Public Order Riot Squad out for this. My team, Western Sydney Wanderers, rightly or wrongly have a bit of a reputation and we are severely over policed. I’ve seen some shocking * over the years from the police.

Good point. It’s probably the only sense in which I’m for it though, tbh.

It just highlights how poor the tv deal is when this one tournament is worth more than a years tv rights

Providing we don't end up on their victory tour its a great plan....not.

Can't wait to see the shirt swap at the end.

NSW are a State full of different nationalities, different wallet sizes, opportunities for those from the projects, country towns and wealthy backgrounds. Qld have a host of polynesian players with similar backgrounds as well. Both have accommodated a host of migrants over the years eg. the skipper of NSW right now has Italian heritage, Tedesco (Teddy).
The Origin matches sell out every year since 1980...pretty awesome.. They've played the matches in California, Perth, Melbourne and Adelaide.
Playing the Hoops/Rangers match in Sydney will enhance the derby, not inhibit it. Rangers in particular would want in, they can make a motza from it. We need them around in order to keep defeating them. It will attract many more eyeballs from around the world. It will not cheapen the derby.
