Doubt it. Thats why he let his deal run down and forced the club into selling him? I liked Ledley, but that doesnt wash with me. He'd have signed by the 31st of Jan. All we heard throughout January was 'the club has made an offer, its up to Joe'. He's telling the fans what they want to hear.

Seems an odd thing to say. I've not read the real article yet.

Why try to appease us after he has left and run the risk of upsetting his current team in making it obvious they weren't his choice?

If the statement is accurate, it benefits nobody.

I don't doubt him, like I've said before he was saying for years he wanted a new deal and to stay and our board tend to try and take the pish out of loyalty.

Only saw what @celticservant tweeted. This gist of it is:

"I will always regret the fact that I didn’t get the chance to say a proper goodbye. That really upset me” (Starts off well)
"When the bid was accepted I just left. But it’s sad that I wasn’t able to say goodbye, not only to my team-mates but to the fans." (Aww Joe)
"The Palace fans were brilliant. It’s a fantastic atmosphere. It was brilliant at Celtic and it’s exactly the same here". (Really?)
“Do I stay or do I go? I had 3 1/2 fabulous years at Celtic and I’ll be honest, I was genuinely thinking about staying."
“I thought I would end up staying. I had told most of the boys that I thought I’d be staying."
"The day the window closed I got told a bid had been accepted and that was that. I made my mind up pretty quickly to go."

He says other stuff about Lennon being a celtic man, scoring against Sevco and the barca game

He says everything right. Every player does it. 'Loved my time here, fans great, wanted to stay. Great offer from new club. New challenge. Cant wait. New fans brilliant. Big club/league. Happy to be here'.

You can't blame the club for accepting the bid. Were we supposed to risk him leaving for nothing on the off chance he did decide to sign a deal?

Lennon has also said he has had the offer for a long long time.
No way was he going to sign,he had his 3.5 years with us and wanted to move on fair enough...but a little honesty wouldn't go a miss.

Ledley has had the contract on the table since September, thats what I read.

That is quite a long time, I'm not sure whether there has been some haggling during then but it seems clear he wanted to leave.

I dunno why we left it until September though?

So what do you think we offered him? Less money? After all he has went to Palace for less money.
If we couldn't/wouldn't offer him better terms than he was getting he didn't want to stay that much if he left for less.
If he was holding the club to ransom then he can gtf as far as i'm concerned.
Him, Brown and Samaras are all widely reported on our maximum wage of 25k a week.
He either tried to use that to his advantage by getting a move or was stupid enough to think we would increase our wage ceiling when we are playing in a half empty stadium each other week.

I'm glad he ended up at a shithole like Palace on less money. He tried to play us and got *. HA HA!
Reeks of Cadete, Di Canio and Pierre.

Probably the same amount, just not with terms that he would have judged to be fair. There's a lot of different things in contracts that can * about players with.

Reeks more of Jackie McNamara or the way we treated Lenny in his later years.

How did we actually treat Jackie and Lenny? I hear people say this, I don't actually know what happened.

Jackie got his contract * about with an offered at the last minute, when WGS just came in because the club thought Jackie would just sign. No questions asked. * about with loyalty.

Lenny was repeatadly asked to take a wage cut and he done it every time to his credit. Man loves us. Even when he took over, he was offered shocking wages for a Celtic manager.

He'd be a smart signing for the likes of Bournemouth, Leicester, Newcastle etc.
