Yeah I don't see that being the case.

I reckon we probably in the end didn't want to pay him what he wanted and Palace did and probably and then some hence why we accepted the bid off Palace rather then letting Ledley wait until his contract expired.

Yes just like a certain Mr Keane who's dream it was to play here but preferred the Spurs Tea ladies, Super Joe's Dream was always to play for Crystal Palace or so he spouts to papers now. A bit disrespectful to our great club?
Players come & Go, some earn more money, play in bigger leagues, but very few ever better themselves, just reinforces how honoured we where to have had a player like Henrik give us his best years!!

The fact he rejected the first contract and they came back with a second in my eyes tells me it was a good offer and better than what he would have carried on getting here for 6 months till walking away free..

It appears likely that Ledley moved to Palace for more money. Certainly not for trophy potential and playing competitively in Europe. Although if he proves himself in the Premiership, the bigger teams there may take interest. I think he should have stayed at Celtic and signed a new contract. However he chose to move on. Thanks for your efforts at Celtic. You did a good job and will be remembered favourably.

This could explain the Crystal Palace wage cap..

"Crystal Palace have Europe's biggest squad, says new study"

"Crystal Palace have assembled the largest squad in Europe's top 31 divisions this term, a new study say.

Crystal Palace have the biggest squad in Europe with 34 players.

England and Italy have the largest squads on average in Europe.

Player movement has reached a new high with new signings in 2013 accounting for 41.3% of squads.

The percentage of foreign players in each league has hit a peak with 36.8% growing up in a different country to where they operate now.

France remains the most well represented foreign nation in the Premier League, with 49 players.

The number of academy-trained players in Europe's top leagues has reached a new low of 21.2%.

Arsenal have the highest percentage of academy-trained players in England at 32.3%, equating to 10 players.

Chelsea have one academy-trained player in their squad - John Terry.

I'm pretty sure the above article was written before they added so many players on deadline day, as well. Hope they go down. :56:

Unfortunately only 4 of our 34 are EPL standard. Ward, rb or dm, Jedi cm, now Ledley and Chamakh. Pullis was our best signing this season.

The ONLY 'Fucksake' about it, is his 'Dream Move' to the premier league is to Crystal Palace!! Money Money Money, I honestly hope that big fat EPL Sky Bubble bursts and we'll see then how many of our so called 'Great Servants' find the diddy teams down there so appealing.........

A big money move to one of the Top 6/7 teams and a massive pay increase and maybe I could understand a player wanting to move. But honestly I am sick of our players moving to teams who would be nothing without 'Sky's big fat pay cheque.

Think we should look to the Scandinavia from now on for more quality players who come from small leagues but realise just how Big Celtic is and how much an honour it is to be signed by a club of our stature.........

Premier League teams are only allowed squads of 25 so say the rules. So not sure if that's bollocks or not.
They can have as many players as they want on the books (reserves, Under 19's etc), but the squad they pick their first 11 and subs from is 25 man limit.

You're allowed as many under 21 players as you want and they had a few players who they signed but didn't make the final squad

Of course it's the money, such is life,it is what it is I'm afraid..
As much as it frustrates us..

I can't really understand the palace move as I'm sure Joe could have got a bigger club and wage packet..

Yeah like one mo bangura who came from Scandinavia and before arrival was already talking up a move to the premier league,Scandinavia is no different from most other countries, they like the pound signs like everybody else!
