I have no idea what you were paying him, our limit is somewhere around 20 grand a week. But that is a guess having said that our owners run a very cash tight ship so doubt it would be much over that if at all.

I think he must have a major get out clause in his Palace contract.

If he waited 6 more months he would be free to leave and manage to negotiate higher wages as there was no transfer fee.

I'd find it hard to believe he has taken a drop in money and committed to Palace for a few years.

Got to be more in this story.

Its not. I knew I was correct, they have a wage cap, roughly £15k-£20k, their owners are very frugal.

Joe is probably on £20k a wee with a good bonus if they stay up.

What, because a Palace fan has come on here and said that he doesn't think he will be on more. I would very much argue that he will not be on less, that's for sure. Otherwise, why would he leave just now. I would say Chamakh will be on upwards of 20k p/w also. He was on 60k p/w with Arsenal. Do you think he will have took a 40 grand p/w pay cut? Another article had him on 93k p/w with Arsenal as he was a free contract.

Chamakh was different though, he was never going to make it at Arsenal, he had no choice but to move on and he had to take what he could get. Joe was a stalwart here. I think he was pushed a little bit, it seemed clear from the contract situation that he wanted to move on, but given the choice I think he'd rather have stayed until summer when more options would have been open to him.

Do you genuinely believe a footballer would go from 60k p/w down to 20k? It was reported that Palace would have to smash their wage structure to get him in.

    Chamakh is on 25k/week.
Cameron Jerome is on 20 k/week.

    Wage cap is 25k.

He probably knows more about his club than we do though. And this has been reported from numerous media sources.

In May 2013 (after they won promotion) the Palace wage bill was £12.5m, as quoted from the Guardian:

Has it swelled that much since? I do not believe so. They probably broke the wage structure for him (Chamak). I reckon Joe will be on the same as here, circa £25k a week and, as I said - a very handsome bonus for staying up.

The same yes. I highly doubt he is on less than he was here though. That was my main argument.

Sorry man, never picked you up correctly.

Aye Joe is probably on the same, with a bonus, probably due to the Chamakh deal - that's basically set a precedent for Palace to enlarge their wage structure - if they stay up.

No worries. The Palace fan had said that he thought Joe had taken a wage cut, I just didn't really agree with that.

Judging by Palace's wage bill when they came up at 12 million we have almost triple their wage bill, ours is between 30-35million. Granted we have a lot more players on the books but the wage will be the same id imagine.

Only because I did or know how much you lot were paying him. On the greater scheme of things I think a regular of your side would be on more money than we could afford, especially someone like Joe Ledley.

Chamakh is only here till the summer,6 month contract no signing on fee so it is fees able that he is on a higher wage than Joe.

Our highest paid player is Brown mate, and he is on roughly 28k p/w. You seem to think we shell out massive wages, which couldn't be further from the truth in all honesty.

That is less than I imagined however it's still more than any Palace player would be on until our recent signings who would be on similar amount.

Good luck for the rest of the season anyway.

Aye, I didn't expect Palace to be paying out more than that prior to making it into the EPL. I reckon you will be paying Chamakh slightly more than 28k, but he might be the only one.

Cheers mate, all the best as well. I'm actually fairly confident you will stay up with Pulis in the dugout. He knows how to grind out wins.

Was Ledley forced out of the club? Seems possible considering he could have had his pick of clubs at the end of the season.

He rejected Roma to join us in the first place so you'd imagine with Champions League experience his reputation would have increased and clubs of a similar stature of Roma would've been in for him again. Instead he's went to one of the many soulless entities in England and his career has been set back a good few years.

Don't get me wrong it's good from our point of view that we got money for a player that wasn't renewing but I just don't see how Ledley is benefitting from this move whatsoever.

Think that was the best for us,because with his contributions he doesnt deserved to be top earner at the club and if he doesnt accept a wage decrease with challenge for his position through johansen and co,he should atleast get us some money for him.

    All the best Joe :shamrock:
