They don't have to be, each player helped achieve success at this club in their own way, your version of great servants appears to atleast be on length of service to the club at which point Samaras would be a greater servant to this club then people like Sutton or Hartson were, now of course I doubt you would honestly believe that but IMO Sutton and Hartson were great servants to this club and helped us achieve the treble under O'Neil, beat the dead lot 6-2, knockout liverpool with a stunning goal and so many more, they helped swarm this club in silverware and gave us all some of the greatest memories in Celtic's modern history.

to suggest they weren't great servants is crazy, but of course people are entitled to their own opinions at the end of day and much like you may not agree with mine we will accept it and just disagree:50:

If you would care to point out where I have said that he is a better or equal servant as those you have mentioned then I will concede.

It doesn't mean that he wasn't a great servant for us though, it cannot be simply based on the players time here alone.

You jumped in when I was talking to someone else. So you have dodged my question now.

Which is fair enough buddy, but saying he is a great servant after 3 and half years and compare him to others who in my opinion are great servants is not the case and great servant is getting chucked about far too easy these days.

I think being here for a long time is a major factor as well, they could have gone to another club, and most of the people I have said have won things beat Rangers and stayed in the rough times like McStay.

Just go back up to the top. And go to what I was replying to someone else before you jumped in.

Facts are he is not in the same breath as the players I have said. Not a great servant like them.

Why keep bringing up this jumping in. It's a forum mate, you are going to see people giving opinions.

You are basically saying that a player has to be with a team for a certain number of years before they can be classed as being a great servant. The point I made was that although Sutton wasn't here for the same length of time as McStay etc, doesn't mean that he can't be a great servant.

Because I was not talking to you at the time, and you clearly tried to undermine me. Hence the comment, or can't you see that buddy?

And yes he would have to be here for a number of years, like the players I have said, the term great servant is chucked about far too much now.

You may class Sutton as a great servant but he is not in the same bracket as the great servants that we have had IMO he was a great player for us no doubt about it but like I have said countless times now nothing like the others, no point in going back and forth everytime now, you have your opinion I have mine bud.

You just seemed a bit touchy on the matter, the fact you have brought it up on more than one occasion. If you see a post that you don't really agree with, then normally the first thing you would do is reply to it. If it was a private discussion, then you could have made it that way.

Serious questions, how long would you say a player has to be here to be classed as a great servant? Would you say that what the player contributes to the team should go towards determining how good a servant he was? Or is it purely based on timescale?

    I'm not picky.
In a way that is kind of my point. If Ledley is a mercenary then so much Hooper and Wanyama but I don't think anyone accused the two latter players of being mercenaries so in my opinion it's kind of hypocritical in saying Ledley is but not Hooper or Wanyama.

Players will go to where they can get the most money while playing in the biggest league they can and that is what Ledley really has done. It may well be with Palace but he's now playing in arguably the 2nd best league in the world so who can blame him for leaving? Especially if he plays well as it will get him more recognition playing down there to maybe get a move to a bigger team.

Not at all, it's was relevant to state it again. It was in the middle of a discussion and you asked something else.

Also I've already answered the question already on this matter about how long. Again if you looked at the whole discussion you would have seen this instead of jumping in at a certain point. And no before you ask I'm not touchy about it just stating a fact :)

Also I've not answered the last part since no one has asked it, I would say it's how good they where and the timescale will factor in if they are a great servant. All of the players I've stated have been very good or even great players and been at the club for a very long time.

Like I've said before we are not going to agree on this, you have your view I have mine.

Some of the negative comments of jealously on this site is just laughable. Problem is with Celtic is that Celtic think you are bigger and better than you are. Funny how most of your best players are f***ing off to us, Norwich and Southampton. Sooner you realise that the SPL is probably the worse and most boring league in the world the better. You literally have no competition, no challenge and you literally just walk the SPL every season, you have never seen someone go ''oh I fancy Kilmarnock to win the SPL this year'' its just Celtic, Celtic, Celtic and Celtic for the next 100 years, it sounds good but you are winning the SPL which is the equivalent of SkyBet League 1. Good on Joe Ledley for relishing a challenge, i'd take a relegation battle in the Premier League over being champions of Scotland any day.

From a fan of a diddy English club!!

We are known across the world in spite of the league we play in. Your club won the championship tombola and the prize was a season of making up the numbers in the moneyball league.

Look forward to seeing you on the football league show soon :50:
