Maybe we should be giving Ledley some praise for not fannying about and at least having the decency make his mind up now about what he wanted to do. He could have run his contract down and left for nothing in the summer, atleast this way we are getting some reasonable money for him (£800,000).

Dont personally think he will be a big miss. He did it to his boyhood club, the signs were he was going to do it to us.

You can take the points to suit your argument as can I from those interviews, what stood out to me was it's a fantastic club, I'm really enjoying my time here, and hopefully we can get something sorted sooner rather than later.

At the end of the day we are not going to agree, and not everything is always rosey in the garden as you would think, but that's your perspective and I have mines.

    I'm not picky.
Sad to see Ledley go. Was a great player for us and done the business more often that not. People moaning about him going to Crystal Palace...he may have chosen to go to Crystal Palace, but Hooper chose Norwich City, so where's the difference? Palace have obviously given him the money he wants as well. Also when you think about it, it may be Crystal Palace, but they are still in a much bigger league and he'll be playing the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd etc instead of dross like St Mirren, St Johnstone and Ross County.

Maybe he was being a "mercenary" or maybe the board have * up - no one really knows for sure, but the bottom line is he wasn't going to sign a new contract and Lennon (or the Board) have chosen to get at least something for him rather than nothing and lose him on a free. Very rare nowadays that a player will play at a club they "love" over the lure of bigger wages. If Ledley's done that, then he's only in a pool of about probably 90% of players. It's the way football is now unfortunately.

I still wish him good luck and thank him for the times he gave us, especially the goal he scored against the dead ones to put us on top of the league on 28th December 2011.

Joe was a Cardiff boy and walked away from them an they got * all so to walk away from us won't concern him too much to say the least. A lot has been said on here about his love for the club and his footballing abilities but lets not get carried away, he was a decent player but I certainly won't be getting too upset about his departure, we'll manage I'm quite sure of that. He'll play against higher quality opponents on a regular basis (for this season anyway) and he'll be paid handsomely but he's given up champs league football, medals and the adulation of one of the best supports in the world to play for a nobody. Goodbye Joe, you've played the system well but your still an average player playin for a * club, memories? Only at the mighty hoops will they be worth savouring!

Aye you're dead right we can take what we want from them. But to me "fantastic club" is a stock line for any footballer and "sooner rather than later" is a given cause he wants a wage rise.

You cited an article from August. How long has our deal been on the table for him. I genuinely can't remember. Seems like it's been a while. So we basically got the Champions League over and done with, we knew our income for the year, then sat down and offered him a deal. Sorry mate I can't see how this is a case of the board doing anything wrong.

Again something we agree on :50: Of course I don't think everything is rosey. One of our better players has just left. I just don't see the point in apportioning blame for it. It's what Ledley wanted.

The garden may not be rosey, but it's not as covered in blood and diarrhoea as you seem to think it is :icon_mrgreen:

People saying money talks? He will be earning the same there - they have a wage cap. He will be on no more than £25k a week. They do however (I think) have better bonuses and if they stay up it will be a cracker.

This could prove to stall his career. Gutted.

Really sad he has gone to be honest.

Sad to see him go but what really * me off is that we got less for him than we spent on griffiths, horrible bit of business

One of my favourite Celtic players of the modern era. Sad to see you go, Joe. Best of luck at Palace.

Onwards and upwards, let's put our faith in Johanssen now to replace him and do better.

A big loss, but I don't think Ledley's career will be going sky high with this move.

He was genuinely my favourite player. Gutted, but on the other hand, I'm glad that it makes room for Johansen and Biton.
