So easy to blame the player Why don't you all take a look at the money men with a big pot of European and transfer money and ask why to them and ask why wasn't his contract raised to what he wanted !

...because he wasn't worth it :fear:

And actually it appears to be easier to blame the board.

He wasn't here long but he was a good player.

Step up Nir Biton and Stefan Johansen.

I'm * off with this "great servant" "icon" "legend" etc. He was a decent player, people are getting carried away and IMO going overboard with the praise for him. We have lost better players than him before, although I wouldn't say we lost him he wanted to go and he got his wish.

He had no intention of signing a contract extension with us, people are just looking for an excuse to blame the board again.

Given it took him half a day to run from training, get changed jump on a plane to london do medical sort out contract and sign.....pose for pics and declare his love for them. I think the few months his new celtic contract was on offer was more than long enough.
Actions speak louder than words....like it or not he couldn't sign for them quick enough.
Im not slating the guy we did well out of the player but this is not the clubs fault.

I don't though , cause as I said believe what you want, as I really don't care what you think tbh.

He was asking for a new deal all last season and it's took them until pretty recently to get to him, I personally think that's no way to treat one of your top players.

Genuinely fans that believe he was wanting to stay and the board caused him to leave must have something wrong with them. The guys a mercenary. If he wanted to stay he would've. It's really that simple. Done it to his boyhood club when joining us

I don't think Crystal Palace will be needing his CL experience anytime soon :smiley-laughing002:

Im willing to retract the "* him" part, that was a bit OTT because he was a good player for Celtic but I stand by the rest of it 100%.

Meh, going to Crystal Palace summed him up in the end.

Much more excited at seeing Biton or Johansen now getting a regular spot.

    Exactly mate.

The first Celtic team I can remember watching contained players like McStay, Burns, Grant, Aitken, Bonner ect. So forgive me if I dont quite rate Ledley as a "great servant" for Celtic.

    Aye good :50:

So what he said was that he wants to concentrate on his football then get a contract sorted. So a few months down the line we've offered him a contract and now he's changed his mind? Fact is that the club wouldn't match the wages he wanted, and who knows what he was asking for?

One part of the article that stuck out to me was this - “I was exactly the same at Cardiff and I dealt with it well." Aye he certainly did. Big money move last time, big money move this time.

I mean no harm to Joe! Good player, and nobody can begrudge someone wanting to earn more money. But I don't think that anything can be used to bash the club nowadays without any basis in reality.
