Those suggesting he's * and that's that are being way OTT.

In terms of form, however, he doesn't deserve to be playing just now.

We buy the player from Utd because of what he did with them where he was a brilliant CAM - the heartbeat of that team....what do we do? Stick him out wide left. Similar situation with GMS. He plays wide right. We take him then occasionally play him wide left and he's lost. Why do we buy players based on what they've done with their previous Club and then play them in another position? Bonkers.

I said it a while back and I'm still of the same opinion that he just doesn't offer anything. He is totally anonymous and has been since he got here. If he is still at the open uni to become a lawyer then he should be playing for a part time team, not Glasgow Celtic.. 1 of the biggest clubs in the world. The boy is pish and nothing has made me believe otherwise

    Pish is a bit OTT.

He's just an average footballer who excels at nothing. He's marginally over the bar compared to others in the league which made him stand out at DU.

However he isn't and never will be good enough to be a starter for Celtic.

I don't buy into him impressing when he came in last season either. I've never been impressed.

We can revisit this time next year after a run against some European opposition. Won't be convinced by competent performances against SPL dross.

Nice lad, very basic, uninspiring footballer.

Let's hope the post(s) comes back to haunt me, but I doubt it will.

I seem to recall him being very inspiring during a game against Inter Milan not so long ago.

Guy's form has dipped, and not an unusual trend for a footballer in his second season at a new club.

Think we should play him in the Brown/Bitton position, decent engine on him and gets stuck in,never a winger.

He's got a decent engine on him but he does not get 'stuck in'. Brown gets stuck in, Armstrong does not.

Has to play centre mid, preferably in a midfield 3 or a diamond. He's no left winger but there's definitely a player there. He probably needs taking out the firing line for a couple of weeks because his form's been poor, but he'll get it back. As Padmill said, he was * good against Internazionale (GMS was and all)

His biggest asset is/was his ability to break from midfield and support the forward. Had a lot of goals/assists with Utd doing this. So I'd say his best position is centrally & in our system that would be the Attacking Midfield position.

Unfortunately for Armstrong there is probably at least 3 players ahead of him for that position. His next best position would be alongside Bitton or Brown. From here his energy & workrate would allow him to play box to box. Although again Bitton, Brown, Johansen & probably now Scott Allan are ahead of him here.

So he's probably playing in his 3rd best position & that's why we are not seeing the best of him. He's a better option than our current left wing choices but if we sign a proper winger to play there regularly I think Armstrong will be demoted to the bench & see very little game time.

To summarise I agree that he would be better in the DM position than LW as his energy & workrate would stand him in good stead even if I don't agree that he gets stuck in. His very best position is CAM though.

He's not got half the heart to do that. Can't see Broony's replacement being a passenger like Armstrong.
