I would take him back. With Forster returning, I don't want to see a whole load of "bring them back" signings, but Armstrong is definitely still in his prime and would add a lot of depth to us. Issue though, don't see him agreeing to a loan if he's not playing regular football, which wouldn't be a guarantee with McGregor/Christie/Rogic/Brown/Ntcham all vying for the same position.

We'd have a stronger squad with him though, no doubt.

I'd take him back in a heartbeat. His runs, energy and shooting is only present in Christie in our team. I think we only realised how important he was after he was already gone.

No Thanks.. he thought his level was above ours and i am fed up of loans... development players and ones for the future.

I want us to go out and sign players who -
are fit / up to speed
    NOT carrying an injury
doesn't get injured in training or first game
    can hit the ground running

i guess its just me being too fussy and having my standards set to high

Maybe if we had the option to buy at the end, otherwise we'd just be pushing Ntcham down the pecking order for no real benefit.

Been some noise in press about potential return in Jan, what do you guys think?
For me, I would have him back, he's got goals in him, at a good age, understands what's required.
Cant cut it down south. He did have a good spell for us before he went.

No thanks to a return and he wouldn't come back anyway. He's been in every squad this season for their league matches, bar the first one, and has been used as a sub regularly, so don't know where the can't cut it comment comes from.

I'd love him back, gives us great energy in midfield.

    Cant see it though.

    Exactly..

This is a non starter. He's around their first team and all going well, Turnbull will be here in January..

Armstrong not rated by saints manager, has only played 22 minutes this season, he will be loaned out but I can see him at a bottom 6 EPL club sooner rather than later

    ... He's already there.

Idiotic on his part. He was never going to get a move to bigger than Southampton. It was never going to be a stepping stone like VVD or Wanyama. A backwards step in everything apart from league and money.

He'll now rot in the second best league in the world, the English Championship, until he comes up with his tail between his legs and end up playing for Hibs or Hearts.

Christie is a far superior player.

Having said all that, I would take him back for a nominal fee and pay him a pittance for his services. Would be handy to have have as back up. I would never push the boat out and if he was to * around when it came to negotiating wages, I'd want us to walk away immediately.

Personally wasnt idiotic. He had a brilliant purple patch. He knew himself he couldnt keep that up and grabbed the money when he had the chance. He would be warming our bench and going down to hibs or a lower championship from us by now. He'll get one more half decent money move from southampton now aswel before he comes back up here.

If he was here, he wouldn't be loaned out. We still have Kouassi on our books. He'd definitely be making our bench every other week at least. He's not good enough to oust one of regular starters but he would be an asset to fall back on.

I can see us moving for him in the next few windows and I wouldn't be against it but if he * around, walk away from the table.

Another * who thought he was too good for us. More than half the time he wasn’t actually good enough. I’d rather sign somebody who appreciates playing for us.
