    Can't believe he's only signed a 2 year contract...

Basically means we're gonna have all this drama again this time next year when he has only 1 year left to go again.

    What a hassle.

Clearly signing a one years extension so the club will receive a decent fee for him , the player himself also receiving a percentage of said transfer fee. Fully expect him gone this summer.

Don't see why everyone is slating Armstrong, he's looking at where he wants his career to go and if it's down South next season then good luck to him. His agent has * this up for him when it should of been a straight forward deal. As long as he plays in the hoops I'll fully support him, it's his loss if he wants to move away from this team under Rodgers, he's replaceable.

Enjoy the bench, cunto. For someone supposedly so intelligent you've made a * of yourself here.

Glad he's signed, worry about next season, next season, just want to enjoy this one like a we did the last one, if he leaves summer not irreplaceable, a lot of things can change, he might stay

2 years is plenty, wasn't expecting him to commit for any longer.

Will be interesting to see if BR comments on the length of the contract, I suspect he'll say something like 'I'm glad it's finally sorted and Stuart can continue his development at Celtic'

He will only get better so either we are going to have an excellent player on our hands for two more seasons or we are going to make a handsome profit on him.

The length of a contract really doesn't matter much in modern day football, he obviously wants to move on pretty soon. He could have signed a five year deal and moved next season anyway, I guess this way we all know exactly where we stand.

In all likelihood we'll punt him next summer so at least it won't be a surprise, in some ways the length of the contact is honest..

Yeah as disappointed as I am about the length of contract and how I feel this doesn't help him, glad we've at least put all this * behinds us. Guy will get sold next Summer and we can concentrate on Brown, Ntcham, McGregor, and Rogic.

Don't see the fuss tbh, he'll be turning 26 during the season and obviously wants to eventually try out a different league in his career having played for Dundee Utd and us in Scotland.

He's obviously a money motivated guy which is fair enough and his next contract after this one will have to be the BIG ONE that sets him up completely for life. I'm guessing he's on about £18-20K a week just now after this extension but he'll be aiming for a contract worth £35K+ a week in England or abroad if he can have a decent season for us once again and especially in the CL. If it wasn't for Brendan I'm certain he'd never have signed the extension, with GMS gone and Erik most likely leaving soon also I think Armstrong feels 6 months to 1 more year will do as it's no secret those two were his best mates at the club.

This is the part of my post the majority will no doubt disagree with, but I think Brendan will go with Armstrong and Ntcham in the holding areas of the park once the CL Group Stage games dawn, therefore leaving Brown on the bench. I know folk will find that hard to agree with or accept, but I think that's what is going to happen. There is no way Armstrong is signing the extension just to sit on the bench, he's obviously been told by Brendan if he signs the contract there will be a place for him. It's anyone's guess whether Lustig/Tierney will captain us in the Groups. If people are being honest with themselves all in top form then Armstrong and Ntcham will bring more to our MF in the CL over Brown. Don't get me wrong Brown was incredible last season in the CL, really upped his game to levels I never thought he was capable of, but I think if Brendan wants to take us to new heights in Europe then Brown won't be a starter for us in the Groups. He'll still start many domestic games of course though.

And after a good 6 months - 1 year of solid performances at the highest level for Armstrong we should be able to secure a fee of around £8-10M for him if he maintains his good form from last season.

Which is fair enough, he's going to have to get himself sorted mentally though and find that player again that we all seen last season. Armstrong's away performance at Man City last season is what we need to see consistently from him in the CL this season.

    * length of commitment. If we get a decent offer, i'd take it.

This really doesn't make any sense. He obviously doesn't want to commit to us for long so will be looking for a move next summer at the latest.

Brendan wont want to build a team around him if he isn't sticking around so he might not get many opportunities which in turn will affect his transfer fee.

If he stays for the full season then we are back to square one next summer.

Just a really strange contract extension for all parties.

He'll be be sold in January or more likely this time next year. If not, he'd have signed a three year deal minimum.

I doubt the club would look fondly on having to restart negotiations in a tears time for another contract extension.

There's now way BR will leave our Brown, I think you will see:-

    Gordon
    Lustig Simunovic Bitton KT
    Ntcham Brown Armstrong
    Roberts Griffiths Sinclair

Especially away in the CL, maybe at home too..

Edit: Just noticed it was you lol..
