Southampton have been pretty decent with us in recent years, dont think 6 million should be a problem for them with the succeses of wanyama, van dij, forster.

How did he play on Wednesday? I thought he was ok. Sutton said he "shone"?

Don’t get all this sell him if he isn’t signing a deal “we can replace him” one lot of *! Yes we have quality in mcgregor rogic whoever else but they are all different style of players. Absolutely mental that people would just let him go madness tbh

So if he refuses to sign a deal - which he has done so far - you'd rather we kept him for this season and he leaves next summer for nothing?

That's ludicrous management. At present with 1 year left he's probably worth £5million+ in a transfer fee, if he doesn't want to extend his contract I'd much rather sell now and get to use that on someone who wants to be here.

    Totally agree with this..

However, I'd rather keep him and let him go for nothing if the bid is under 4.5m or thereabouts..

Agreed but my limit would be slightly lower, even though I do think he is worth more. Considering Ntcham is our biggest outlay in over a decade and was £4.5 million.

Better having a player like him in the team than taking 3 million imo don’t know about you

Agreed, I wouldn't at this point be taking £3 million for him. I'd be asking for starting offers at double that. if the guy's intent on leaving then his head's elsewhere and I'd rather put those millions to someone looking to be here long-term.

Would rather have him helping us win another treble and get a run in Europe than punt him on the cheap to England. If there's any validity in the amount bid we should give Southampton a big * off pill and let him run down his contact.

We know he's worth a lot more but I'd probably settle for anything over £4m, grudgingly..

Still hope he stays but not looking good I'd it!

I know, I'm pretty much on the same boat as you but you can already see Rodgers overlooking Armstrong just now with Ntcham getting in ahead of him in recent games. If he doesn't sign he won't be playing him regularly unless others are injured IMO, Rodgers will be looking to develop players that will be here long-term.

Yeah its really sickening the money some of these non entity clubs have. Southampton have won like one major trophy. Ever. I saw Brighton signed a midfielder from Ajax. For 13 million. Its sick. Leaving Ajax for Brighton- the day it implodes im having a beer.

Fair * to their League for getting them that money. Scottish Football would be so much better off financially if the SFA/SFL didn't so spectacularly * up the Sky Sports and Setanta offers back in the early 2000's.

I'd like to keep him I like stu but in fairness if were offered 6m+ take it and that's ntcham a cost covered and more, we've more than enough good players in that role offload the likes of hendo/bitton/ciftci for a combo of 6/7 mil and we are cushy... Highly doubt that would happen though haha

Rodgers also tells BBC that no updates on Armstrong situation. "We're not looking to sell him by any means."

Rodgers: "My own personal view is that another 12-18 months he'll be more ready for the Premier League. Our focus is to keep him, not sell."

I think it's one of them situations where we have to be realistic. If, he wanted to stay here he probably would have signed a new contract by now which leaves 2 options.

    Either...

    1) He wants to move to the EPL to try his luck down South probably doubling his wage

    2) He wants a more lucrative new deal.

I'm a big fan of Armstrong, he's improved to such a dramatic effect he is pivotal to our plans. However, he isn't bigger than Celtic. He owes Brendan a lot, for reviving his career and putting faith in him. He was a shadow of himself under RD.

If he wants to go, he could regret it. If Rodgers think he's messing us about, I have no concern he'll be told he can leave.

Which brings me to my last point - 3m - are they taking the *? It's a ridiculously, bordering on arrogant offer. Tell them to Treble it and then we'll talk.

We need to convince them we'll happily lose him for nothing if needs be, (Even though we aren't) and play them at their game.

Teams like Southampton think they can take our best players without much haggling - * them.

Either way I hope it's resolved soon.
