Ntcham coming in also puts pressure on Armstrong. This lad seems like he can fill his role which might make Stretch realise that he isn't irreplaceable.

I think he wants to stay here though, he is a smart lad and knows fine well how much Brendan has raised his game.

I imagine he will sign shortly and lots and lots of pages of this thread will become completely irrelevant and a bit embarrassing.

    Carry on.

I think that was said in May tbh, and we're sitting here nearly August and he still hasn't signed a deal. Just leaves the media open to speculate. A decision on his future needs to be made..

Hopefully he signs. I'm not gonna pretend if he's off that he was pish or we can do better blah blah blah but I will lose all respect for him..

Has to sign a new contract soon or we should listen to offers around 10m for him if there is actually concrete interest from England. As people have said he won't get a better club than us, just more money.

If we get good money for him I would give it to Man City for Roberts. We have plenty of midfielders, don't see a reason in going in buying another midfielder if we sell Armstrong. Especially since we have just signed Ntcham for a big fee.

Indeed a good bank account doesn't score goals. That's why I want every penny of this transfer plus a bit more going to Man City to bring our sweet wonderful Paddy back.

We've got heaps of central midfielders so don't think we'd buy another if he left, still hope he stays

Guys got another year left here. Don't think we can be too critical on him if his place is to stay another year and develop his game further under Rodgers, then leave at the end of his contract to try his luck down south. That's what his contract was for.
He knows he is getting looked at elsewhere and that money will be better down south, but so long as he is here to stick out his contract and give us that final year - ie not demanding a trasnfer - then we can't really be overly critical of the lad.
Would love him to stay longer and sign a new deal, but perhaps he is sensible to realise signing in for a further 4 years isn't what he wants? That then puts his career and his hopes in our hands and not his.

I honestly thought this would have been sorted before now, and I have called it wrong it seems. But he hasn't went to the papers, he hasn't been a *, he hasn't demanded 40k or to be transfer listed, he just hasn't agreed to extend his contract. He is honouring what we gave him, if we want to cash in, that is our choice - doesn't seem like he is forcing that issue at all though.

Would be stupid to let the final year of his contract run down and let him go for nothing. Sell him for good money and get Paddy back if he doesn't renew his contract.

I agree, from our perspective money is probably better right now. Keep the finances high and roll with it. But equally can't blame Stu for seeing it out. He aint demanding a move or being a * about anything. Seems to be getting on with his job.

Yeah definitely mate. That's why in my reply to you I said sell him and get Paddy if he doesn't renew his contract.

There has only been speculation about him wanting to go, but with the amount of time it has taken to sort something out, it does make you wonder what is going on.

If it was a choice between keeping Armstrong or selling him and getting Paddy I'd take Paddy back, no brainer. Both would be ideal though

We have the money to keep him and buy paddy as is. Shouldn't have to sell Stu to bring in paddy.
Well have the VVD money aswell by the end of the window

I know we have the money as is. Just said it would be stupid to let him run his contract down. Plus selling him should mean that we step up our in interest in Roberts because we don't need to go and buy another midfielder.

If it's true his head has been turned by LOL money then we could sell straight away. Money talks but like many have said before, the grass isn't always greener
