If he wanted to stay he just sign the contract
Should be dumped from first team til it sorted out.

I wouldn't to be honest. I'll be very disappointed and while I agree Rodgers has improved him massively, that doesn't take away from the fact he will want to take care of himself as best as possible.

Very little loyalty is shown by football clubs (including us) so I don't really demand it from players like Armstrong. For what it's worth though, I think Armstrong would be better off staying here in the long run. Rodgers has proven he can get the best out of him and other managers might not have the same success.

It's really up to him. We've got players who would be willing to step into the first 11 and various players our scouts will have an eye on.

I think there's a bit of an overreaction regarding his potential departure. He has a great engine and had a fantastic 6 months towards the end of the season. He's a good player not a world beater, we're Celtic, we'll be able to replace him.

Celtic is an attractive club now for the most talented young players in Europe. Our manager and his coaching staff are the most important factor in the turnaround in Armstrong's Celtic career. They'll be able to develop someone else if he's not interested in staying.

If he doesn't sign an extension by the middle of August he needs to be sold to the highest bidder. We shouldn't be losing players for free.

'Don't shoot the messenger' is code for I'm making this up.

If Armstrong leaves he'll look like he knew about it... If he doesn't then he can blame the person who 'text' him the info.

    -------

If there is any truth to this tweet though then I would sell him in this window.

It would be a blow but we have Ntcham ready to step in and show us what he's capable of.

    ------

    PS: I wouldn't take anything under £8m.

    This.

Bring in our right winger just now and next summer we can deal with an Armstrong replacement.

Dembele will likely be going then as well and his transfer can fund both replacements.

None of these guys have a * clue about internal goings on at Celtic.

    Especially not 'Tam Selleck'.

Exactly. It's funny how many times people take what's said on Twatter as gospel.

Tell you what though, after yesterday (fully realising it was one game AND only a friendly) I wouldn't be overly concerned to see him go. If he wont sign then we are well within our rights to cash in.

    Aye.

He may well go, or me might stay. One thing is for sure though, guys with tweets like that won't be due any credit for 'breaking' the news.

Complete stabs in the dark from all angles. I could jump onto the forum's Twitter page the now and tweet that Armstrong is leaving according to a friend who works for Celtic and it would probably blow up:56:. All you need is a few hundred never mind thousand followers and you are off.

I'm getting to the age where it's getting impossoible to ignore sandals much longer. I keep resisting but it's becoming really difficult, especially holidays.

I just want to wear sandals with white socks and be done with it.

No excuse for a young man like Armstrong though.

I think we could well uncover better players than Armstrong, but my only worry is losing his goals from midfield.

Agreed mate..we have enough in the ranks to go forward without him. If he wants to do a Liam Miller that's entirely his prerogative.

We turned mad Stuart Armstrong from Dundee utd into a fully fledged international in one season with Rodgers. We have already signed some truly promising youngsters in his position in Eboue/Ntcham/Benyu. As far as i;m concerned if he doesn't want to stay he can * off and we will be just fine!

Offer him the terms and give him an ultimatum, if he doesn't sign it then move him on and make sure we get maximum recompense when we do so.

Would much rather he stayed but he's in no position to hold us to ransom. 9 months positive contribution since he signed in January 2015. If he was intelligent he'd recognise in Rodgers and Celtic he was a manager who has taken his game to the next level and a team that play to his strengths.

Moving to a WBA/Southampton would likely see his career go the same way as Ledley's and Hooper's, south both geographically and in footballing terms.
