    It would likely not be far off £10million.

    A player like Armstrong on a free-transfer would probably now command a signing bonus of about £5million from an EPL team given it would cause a bidding war between a good few teams who would need to offer more and more money to get him to sign for them over the others. So a team especially if it's Southampton who have dozens and dozens of £millions to spend if they want to would likely just spend £7/8/9million to get him now and avoid leaving it open to other teams. £10million or less to an EPL team is now peanuts and probably to them would be classed as the type of signing that Benyu has been for us.

    Mind we got £2million from Johansen off of Fulham in his last year and they don't have that much money, Johansen was off the back of a very poor season and nobody really wanted him.

    To be honest, only a fan would think like this. Players want the best possible deal they can get, even those who grew up as fans of the club. I know he'll already be on a handsome wage, but after the season he's had, he's in every position to negotiate.

    Rodgers only reopened talks with him last week, it doesn't happen over night - if Rodgers is confident he'll sign a new contract then that means unless we take the * he'll sign a new contract. Must be the only fans on the planet that want our best players to get to * after going a season unbeaten domestically...

    You never know though, people generally don't like to just snub people and tell them the truth outright. So if Armstrong does want to go he is not going to just go "here im not signing a contract no matter what, I want to leave so your wasting your time". It'll go the same way as it always does with like Ledley or Maloney who remain open to talk but just never agree and then when a bid is made from a team they miraculously decide to leave at the drop of a hat.

    Yeah mate i know not all players are KT. But this is not negotiating. This is unpressional and something you don't see even with foreign players that have no reason to he loyal to us. If he wants to be a * let him be, 8 months is well enough to make a good deal, our board might be penny pinchers but there is no * way they didn't manage to make a good offer in all this time. Just let him go, we have plenty of talent and the ability to move forward. Just don't come back in 18 months, when at loan to a championship club, crying to scottish papers saying how much he loves Celtic and he regrets his decision.
