Celtic won't let him run down his contract either I don't think, either he'll sign which I still think will happen or we'll punt him after Qualifying..

 

Makes sense tends to be Southampton buy him off for us then Liverpool buy him 2 seasons later for like 40 million

 

If we would get 10M and have a replacement that is equal or even better in hand I would look to sell him.

I don't mind that player's wait till the season is over and agent's negotiate from there. That's pretty common to be honest but we're a couple or so week's away from champion's league qualifying rounds so this shouldn't still be an issue. It should be sorted either way and made clear. Negotiate and if you sign then great, if no, then he should be punted asap..

I thought he would've been choking for a new deal and substantial pay rise and stability of probably a 4 year deal, especially after what Brendan has done for him, champion's league football and international now..

May still sign but the longer it goes the more worrying it becomes and fuels the rumours and chances of head turning..

 

We can try and punt him after qualifying, but if he doesn't want to go, we can't make him. He runs his contract out and makes himself a lot more attractive proposition to a lot of teams on a free and gets himself a nice signing on fee to boot. I'm not saying that's what will happen, but as you said, he's an intelligent guy.

 

It could be hard to punt him as well, he might want to stay and leave on a free as he'll make far more money doing that. If EPL teams like West Brom, West Ham, Everton or Southampton or that want him he could probably get about £5million off them if he's on a free since those teams would probably class him as a £10/15million player.

 

I wouldn't sell for 10 million. Him leaving would leave a massive gap in our team.

It's crucial he signs a new contract and I think he will.

We would never get 10m for a player with a year left on his contract, especially since they can start talking to clubs in January. Probably only get a few million max.

Also disagree that he wouldn't be a big loss - I think there's so much more to come from him.

 

Still confident he'll sign a new contract but there's no way it should be taking this long.

I don't think Stuart would get a better coach/manager, someone who brings out the best in him (or plays him in his preferred position) if he was to go elsewhere...although I too feel a wee bit uneasy about the time this deal is taking.

We must do all we can to keep him at the club, has got to be the most improved player over the last 12 months

 

He's one of our most important players I don't think we would have won cup final without him that day, obviously the goal but he ran the show. Getting nervous.

 

You can't be serious thinking they'll give him a 5 million signing on fee.

Wed be doing well to break even on overall investment if we sold him now with the current contract situation

 

Wasn't massive gap in team when he wasn't In it yes he's a better player but he can be replaced

8 million and I think we'll sell him tbh, unless he signs a new contract.

 

By all means best case scenario he signs a new deal but it's not end of world if he leaves yes couple of seasons down the line might be but he's only started coming onto a game so the hurt won't be so bad mcgregor would get more game time if happened

He's been absolutely crucial this past season and selling him would be a huge mistake.

 

Everybody simmer down, he'll be signing a new contract.
