Doogs. Lustig your the one, you still turn me on.

Would be depressing to lose him after his performances last season, and would leave a bit of a bitter taste.

Cant see it getting to that though. Who'd want to leave learning under a manager like Brendan to join a team with a manager who knows fuckall, like the majority down south.

  7. Board should stop * around and make a serious, big-wage offer to him. If the money's right, he's staying, 100%. And we have the * money not to be offering something insultingly low, which we've done many times in the past.

Time to get over this idea that absolutely everything has to be as cheap and low-cost as possible. It'll cost us dearly in the long-run, as it has many times before. I mean * me, it took Sevco board members PERSONALLY insulting Desmond for us to wake up from our passive state of the Deila/Carlton Cole on a Free/bring in a new manager and give him ZERO to spend era.

Posts like this sum up the problem for me. "At least as much as Brown" who is our club captain, first name on the team sheet and highest paid player.

You're probably right in a sense but, who else then thinks that their worth that money? Or their agents think they are.

At the start of last season many wanted him to be sold after his underwhelming start. So basically we'd be giving him all of the above on the back on one season. One season. Who else in this squad has had just as good of a season as Armstrong? You'd be hard-pressed to name under 10 more players. Do we then give all of these 10 players a wage hike and destroy our wage structure? Gamble on CL money for 5 years?

Brown has also had a great season lets give him more money too, then match that for Armstrong...

You've got to balance performances with players' places in the pecking order too (although for me our first choice is Brown/ Armstrong/ Rogic). He could easily not be in the starting XI next season - especially if we sign the experienced CM who everyone seems to want. He's still developing.

All of these things will be accounted for in the negotiations and all it takes is Armstrong's agent thinking he's more important than Brown for no deal.

  10. 30k a week is not that much in football now. If we want to keep assets like Stu and not have them * off to England at the first oppurtunity then we have to be prepared to pay that now.

  11. You're confusing 'football' and 'Scottish football'. £30k per week is a lot for us. I don't care what plastic Bournemouth can pay for players like Ake.

This isn't personal to you Wolf, I just think people need to be more realistic about the balance sheet. I realise I sound a little like a mini-me of Pistol Pete but we have to be sensible.

Although, it's all just talk and money might not be the hold up anyway.

  13. Is it though when we can likely get it back with a large transfer fee eventually. Don't think wed have to give Stu quite as much as that but if so it's definetly a worthwhile investment.

There is potential to get a large fee in the future but £30,000 a week is steep for someone who has had one good season. I love Armstrong and I'd be gutted to see him go, although I don't think he will, but he hasn't done enough to be on the same wages as Brown.

Armstrong is a smart guy. I doubt he'd be demanding crazy wages.

  15. Pretty much just don't want money to be the problem if any complications arise. Pure fear of losing him for nothing is what has me like this.
I know he's only had one good season but still he felt like a new signing actually getting a regular run in his natural position. So his previous seasons out of position dont weigh as heavily on my opinion of him

  16. Trouble is it's his peak years and his best bargaining position ,signs for 3 or 4 years next move is a lower offer in terms of age ,25 k is a decent offer ,probably doubles his wage ,if you are happy at work you take that rather than risk a move that may not work out well.

  17. £25k is probably far more than doubling his wage.

He was probably only on about £1.5k a week at Dundee Utd and likely joined us on between £6-8k a week.

  18. Plenty of that way Anton the other night
