Stuart Armstrong

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by Xavier Woods, Feb 2, 2015.

  1. He's had a few chances now and he's simply not doing it.

I'd rather see Christie get his opportunity in that position, think he has more ability and end product, Commons would also be much better in there.

It's a shame Johansen didn't progress after his 14-15 season, would of been perfect type of player to bring on and replace Rogic in games like tonights, if needed.

Armstrong is far too hit and miss and really doesn't have many above average qualities.

  3. I've still got confidence in Armstrong, he played very well against Rangers scoring a goal too in his natural position in central midfield. Brendan is still trying to find the right balance and mix in midfield, so while that transition is still going on then naturally it is going to make like some midfielders are not functioning properly.

  4. Commons is getting nowhere near the pitch unless we have several injuries.

Exactly, due to his lack of ball retention..

It's no good having a runner if he can't keep the ball, or have the confidence to do something with it/different..

I'd much rather see Christie come on instead, as he may not be the runner both way's, but he's still energetic, clever and can create something from nothing. Even McGregor..

  5. Move Sinclair behind the striker, put Forrest on the left and bring on Roberts to play on the right.

    blizzard bhoy likes this.
  6. Not a bad shout to be fair.

  7. Playing all 3 is certainly an option, but no sure about in Europe..

I'd say Roberts would be my preferred man centrally though(if we ever deploy it), as he's nowhere near as good as Sinclair and Shooders have been in covering and tracking back, and not as quick as either..

  8. Roberts centrally does me just fine. Brendan has yet to even try him there though I'm sure, if he thought he could do a job there I'm sure we would have seen him in there by now.

Which is strange because Brendan compared Roberts to David Silva a couple months back so you'd have thought he would have tried him in behind the striker by now.

  9. Rodgers hasn't seen the best of Roberts in match play, barring Astana away. I'm sure if he came back to form, with the headache on the wings , and Rogic not always lasting the 90.....it'll come in to play..

Those pics. Erik is a Love *.

  13. I always stuck up for him when Ronny constantly played him out of position on the left. Other than the Huns game he has been garbage when coming on in his preferred position. I would play Christie before him.

  14. I'll be * raging if he starts tomorrow.

  15. Superb when he came on. Very effective again against them.

  16. Would give him a run of games instead of that pretender Bitton

  17. Made a big impact when he came on. Put Bitton to shame.

  18. Why the * can he not play like that every game? Both games against the Huns this year he's come on and looked like a true starting quality midfielder. Then he gets rewarded with a start and does SFA. I want him to succeed here but he needs to keep playing like he did today. Miles better than Bitton.
