If Utd weren't playing us in the Cup Final, I think they might have done a deal but it would make no sense for them to weaken their team when they're coming up against us in a couple of month. I wouldn't be surprised if they both stay at Utd for the rest of the season and then both join us in the Summer.

That's what Lawwell wants us to think.

Have to say I don't know much about either player, but this constant theme of penny pinching is so blatantly detrimental to the quality of the team.

Pistol Pete needs to sort it out. We are far too forgiving as a support sometimes, but that's what makes us good supporters I suppose.

Aye that pish won't wash with me either! By all accounts we've only offered about 1.5M. He's worth more than that, just * cough up celtic.

Who at celtic sets out what a player is worth....the scouts or the manager or PL or do all three sit down and decide a price worth paying.

Must be a mixture of all, negotiating tactics though, see what they want then find the the right price between that and what we're willing to pay.

Doubt the manager has any say in the valuation of other teams players. He'll identify who he wants maybe but that will be it. Scouts probably have some say but ultimately if the people at the top don't wanna pay out the money they won't.

Everybody jumping up and down calling Lawwell all the * of the day when nobody actually knows the fee that United want upfront and what add ons they want included in the deal , Armstrong is clearly a talented player and I'd like us to get him but the general consensus amongst the the United fans who actually watch him week in week out is that he is horrifically inconsistent so I think there is really no reason for us to be overpaying just because the fans want to see the club sign somebody before the deadline, stuck to our guns on our valuation and if it doesn't work out just now we give the minutes he would get to Henderson and then we reevaluate the situation in the summer.

Granted the board will not over pay for a player and with our income and huge splfplfplf cash flow we do have to be careful.
But who at celtic says what a player is worth.

There must be input from all three to set guidelines for each player.
After all who the * would not take 3 mill for Efe unless the manager wants him.

To be fair I think most of us know enough about Lawwell to assume he's being tight with the money. He's a money grabbing * and knows the less money we spend the bigger his bonus will be.

Probably not as many mugs in other teams supports, he knows he'd be chased out.

If he reads forums, he's probably * himself at you and the people that claim Dundee United simply won't deal with us.

Too many naive idiots in the Celtic support.

Looks like it'll be the third season in a row that we'll be heading into the qualifiers with a squad badly need players in certain positions.

Not surprised considering 6M was blown on Pukki, Balde and Derk, he putting money aside for the loan debt, then shareholders want a cut, all about profit margins. Lawell isn't to blame, it's his job to ensure we're financially sound and spend within our means.
