We need to pay silly money for him which to me is anything over £2 million.

I'd be happy with this signing. Good, young, talented Scottish player with a promising career ahead of him. Get him in a Celtic top.

Hmm. We did pay over £2m each for Pukki, Bangura, et al. We know what we're getting with Armstrong.

We'd be looking at a midfield of maybe Mulgrew, Brown, Armstrong, Commons, Johansen
and all the other options we have.

Whatever way you wanna look at it that's an awesome midfield. Commons' lack of pace is subsidized with the pace of Armstrong.

Certainly enough to scare the * out of the huns and everyone else in Scotland.

In Europe all it would have is potential, but right now i think it's the cheapest way to do it, even though he might cost more than Guidetti.

Success on the pitch more than pays for a big fee. Even if it means selling someone to make it happen it would be a very clever deal, to bring in someone who can attack and defend. At 6ft some height as well.

I rate him highly but i am wondering if he is right for us. If we are signing another midfielder i would like us to target a Wanyama clone as first priority.

Was he playing deeper in midfield last season. I think he was?

Must admit I haven't seen a lot of him. Looks a decent player, strong runner, gets into good positions and can finish. Also a good age.

But is he an improvement on Johansen?

I mind him playing on the left and in the 10 role. I think he played deeper at times last season. I would sign both him and McGinn if we dont have alternative targets because you know what you will get from these lads.

Still though as i have said a Wanyama clone of genuine quality should be our number 1 target in January

He wouldn't be an improvement on Johansen. He'd be an improvement on Forrest, Tonev and Boerrigter. It'd be good to have a player who can play more than three matches without snapping their hamstring.

Good player, however we deserately need better defenders, that should be our number one priority in January !!!

No. Brown , Ledley , Ki , Wanyama , Kayal , Commons . That was an awesome midfield . We have fallen miles behind .

never said it wasn't . Just never replaced them . My point was that our current midfield is in no way " awesome " as the poster had suggested.

Agreed. It's not the worst though, especially the glimpses Johansen & Bitton have shown this season. Adding Armstrong & Kara would go some way to redressing that.
