Obviously they weren't going to accept £1.5m.

Give them closer to the valuation for once, please. Or we will miss out on another bit of potential from this country.

    How is that funny? :56:

Arfield is every bit as good as Armstrong IMO, with more first team experience and at a higher level.

Arfield had played 120 first team games in the SPL and was Falkirk's captain by the time he was 20.

    I'd definitely take him here.

"Between the contract we were proposing to Armstrong's camp and Sean Dyche saying that he didn't see him as one for the first team, I suspect there's not a cat in hells chance of this deal happening now. That's before you get onto the fact that Burnley offered less than £1m up front."

"Club now confirmed that Armstrong would have joined the club's development squad although I remain to be convinced that's what Sean Dyche was saying."

"Aberdeen fan here, Although it no longer looks as though this deal will go through, I felt I should maybe give my opinion Stuart Armstrong. I see a lot of people slating the quality of the SPL, but you have to consider that two of Armstrong's team mates from last year are now at Hull (Andrew Robertson, who has been exceptional for them) and Sporting Lisbon (Ryan Gauld, starting to break through). Also, if Scott Arfield can get in to your starting 11, then Armstrong could walk into it, blindfolded, with his laces tied together."

Couple comments on a Burnley forum in relation to the Armstrong story.

It's an embarrassment that he was indeed bid for to then go into the development team.

Sorry. I thought you were being disingenuous. :smiley-laughing002:

I only meant that, as things stand, he won't be here next season.

    http://www.burnleyfootballclub.com/news/article/dyche-on-transfer-window-2235112.aspx

The Clarets boss has also revealed he doesn’t expect to continue his pursuit of the 22-year-old Scot who would have joined the club’s Development Squad.

And having already bolstered his ranks with the permanent signing of Michael Keane from Manchester United earlier this month, Dyche insists the club are still working hard to add to the squad with the transfer deadline looming.

He said: “We have always been looking to add to the squad. Different offers have been in for players and one has been rejected today.

“He [Armstrong] was more of a development player in our world. We weren’t thinking of him as someone who would go straight in to the first team.

According to papers we've been told to pay £2million. Think that's a more than fair price for the lad.

If the reports are true, we're maybe not that far away from a bid United would reluctantly accept. Looks like we've bid somewhere between 1.5-2million. If the reports are true that £2.5million would be accepted then we're not far away from the asking price.

Ideally he'll be in on Monday with Mackay-Steven and then we're in a very strong position going into the Milan game.

Those two in and Commons on a new deal and it'll have been a decent window for us.

Hope they move quickly for any players if they want to play them against Inter Milan.
Celtic are allowed to register 3 new players in time for the last 32 stage onwards as long as it's completed by 24:00 CET on 3rd February.
They are not allowed more than 25 players in squad.

If £1.5 million has been rejected my next offer would be £2million for Armstrong and GMS. In pistol Pete we trust :50:

£2.5m and we get Mackay-Steven now as well. I would be happy with that.
