Never actually thought about Hendo - are they not basically the same player?

We need a winger and striker imo. Hopefully the Greek lad from Sunderland will come up.

As much as I like Henderson, Armstrong's comfortably a level or two above him at present.

This is what I mean, Armstong is not a bit better then Hendo. A little more experienced of course but that should´t be the reason to dump the progress of one of our best youth players and give millions away to dundee united.

Absolutely no comparison to Henderson (a player of little experience) and Armstrong (playing first team football for around 4 years), not yet anyway.

Armstrong would be a great investment, he could like Scott Brown, be in our team for 7/8 seasons.

We have an abundance of good players who can play in the middle of the park.

    Johansen
    Brown
    Biton
    Mulgrew
    Henderson
    Commons (kind of)

If he is an out and out centre mid then I wouldn't go for it. We have enough competition as it is. If he's up for playing right mid then I'm all for it.

Would like to get him in, however I feel a CB is much more important as we will lose both before CL qualifiers. Preferably one that can play LB too and not Charlie.

Armstrong wouldn't block Henderson's progress. He can play anywhere in the midfield five. I see him playing on the right.

A few of you on here are over hyping Armstrong massively . Would need to step up a gear to make it here imo .

I'd say the same for people underestimating his ability.

Celtic haven't had a central midfielder capable of scoring even just 10+ a season since probably Stan Petrov? Armstrong is that type of player. Not the strongest defensively just now but that's where Brown steps in beside him and he'd learn.

I'd be really disappointed if we only end up with Mackay-Steven from the players who have come through United recently.

I'd have had Armstrong, Gauld, Robertson and Russell before him.

He's not going to be replacing Johansen though, is he?

He'll most likely be competing with Forrest for a starting spot and given the fact that Forrest rarely pulls on a Celtic jersey, there's not much competition for him there at all.

Thomas Muller comparisons, best midfielder in the league, penny pinching board :56:

This is Stuart Armstrong we are talking about here isn't it? A guy with potential for Dundee United? Just to make sure in case I'm missing something.

He would compete with Forrest, Tonev, Henderson, GMS and Wakaso on the wing/side as I see Stokes place guaranteed aslong as the tactics for game change or stokes is in poor form.

Don't know what he'd do at Celtic, we can't improve on his hair
