IMO GMS and celtic * up.

IF there is any truth we are after this guy then celtic should have told GMS to keep his mouth shut until after the window when we had signed Armstrong.

Nabbing GMS for free might have * them off a little and they will now be playing hardball and maybe inflating asking price.

I think they were always going to try and price us out of this one, with GMS they didn't really have much option but with 18 months left on Armstrong's deal they would rather sell to anyone but us.

I'd imagine he is very keen to come here though.

The only way I can see it going threw is if the player and his agent force it threw.

When was the last time a player forced a move to come here? I wouldn't want it to happen, in any case. Shows a bad attitude.

I dont think we will know if a player is forcing it or not, alot of what happens behind the scenes no one ever finds out. But I dont think it always shows a bad attitude plenty of "world class" players have forced moves in the past.

Couldnt see someone being able to keep quite signing a contract with another team too quite for long. Esp when FIFA rules actually state you need to inform any club holding the original contract that your going into talks.

:56::56: If Celtic want to speak with the player even on a pre-contract they need to inform Dundee United according to FIFA rules ;)

Tbh I can't see the guy coming here. I think we want him & I'm sure his agent has been sounded out but I can't see Utd taking less than 2.5/3mill & I think we will baulk at that. We'd prob want him for about 1.5mill. Utd have set the bar recently with Gauld and I think they will point to his subsequent success when it comes to Armstrong's price tag.

I agree, I honestly think he is worth 2.5M no more no less tbh. If the rumours are true and they are throwing the 4M mark out there we are just right to back off 4M is a joke. BTW my comments were about GMS and him not saying anything about us approaching him not Armstrong.

I'd go 2.5mill max. If they want more then * them. I'd rather give Henderson the game time.

Dundee United are getting a bit too big for their boots. Likewise Aberdeen.

I don't think this is anything to do with United getting too big for their boots. They have done well recently in getting transfer fees but, in reality, they have also been done over. For instance, if Robertson or Gauld had played elsewhere, at Celtic or an EPL side for example, they would have gone for much larger fees and likely to much larger clubs.

On top of this United are our rivals, or at least they see us as rivals in domestic competitions. Prices will always be increased if a player is going to a rival. Therefore I think they're quite right in getting as good as they can get. Chances are this'll be somewhere between 3 and 3.5 million, hopefully from us.

The only bad thing about inflating the prices of Scottish players is that it will price us out of moves, the other teams should be getting the money they deserve though. If Gauld was at some championship club he'd have went for £10 million plus easy.
