you fail to see my point Newcastle or West Ham would not bother asking WGS because he is in one of the top 5 managerial jobs in the country would you leave celtic for the likes of them teams that will be lucky to win anything and in all likelihood won't win anything or qualify for europe.

He might y'know. Fans of West Ham and Newcastle have significantly lower expectations than us, plus he wouldn't be gettin jip from the fans (if he delivered at least one trophy per season) - not the case at CP I'm afraid.....

Did Benfica not want him last season?

Yep why would Newcastle bother asking wgs, keegan has left a shambles off a club, who really is going to touch that job now, if the board are not letting him do the job.

Dont think Gordon would throw away champions league football, to go to 2 clubs where there are big problems behind the scenes.

WGS is here for one reason, and that is that he is up for the challenge here at Celtic, i think WGS is intelligent enough to just get on with his job and do his best than listen to people moan about him...there is always a degree of that when you manage the old firm but he has had it more than most and unfairly so in my opinion. Once you get the taste for euro football and winning things your hardly gonna go a step back it would be crazy.

    Fair point.
He's never gonna feel the way he so obviously did when Skippy scored the winner against AC Milan, if he were manager of either of those teams.

No I understand your point perfectly.

These clubs have no respect for the SPL, if they had an interest in WGS of course they would go after him, they may not get him but that´s not the point.

If WGS wanted to go or not is irrelevant, bookies don´t work that way when forming these markets. If he was a manager who was respected down south, then he would be an automatic name within any market, regardless of speculation. The market would then be dictated by press rumour and ultimately money, as to who would be favourite. He is not even quoted so cannot be rated it´s quite simple really.

I dont understand a lot of the general negativity abour player quality from anyone much under 30. Apart from MON's first 3 years when he inherited a handful of good players and recieved a unique huge injection of quickly given cash lifted the stadard, you have to go back nearly 20 years to find a successful Celtic side (i.e. not Burns side) who were any better than what we have now. Even if you include Burns last year or two, I would say that only 5 years out of the last 20 have we had an as good or better group of players than we have today. I dont get where people idea of what is normal in player quality comes from. The most deluded probably are those in their teens now who have been supporting for about 8 years who probably thought the early MON years were the norm but they sure as * were/are not.

newcastle will think if he can win titles and european games for some SPL team then he could easilly do it for an EPL team,.... the English way of thinking is that they are number 1.... but it really isn't the case.

if he does go to newcastle he will fail, at least i think he would. and we would be in trouble if our manager leaves mid-season

Believe it or not I actually agree with you:icon_mrgreen:

I think the difficulty is though that fans have short memories sometimes or as you said, are too young to remember the bad times.

I undestand what your saying Keltoi & can agree with a lot of your post. However for many fans, only under McCari have we played a worse brand of football.

Currently we are not playing the game the Celtic way, not even close IMO. It´s been three years and we´ve been promised attractive entertaining football. You probably think we are currently seeing it, I just don´t & that´s the problem.

If the Huns begin to really pull away come Christmas (* forbid), serious measures have to be taken. We need to go on a shopping spree in January regardless of our position, but if the Manks have nice breathing space then it'll be a critical stage of WGS's Celtic career.

    Exactly.
We get excited nowadays if we see a clinical Celtic display, whereas in my (and I'm very sure many others) experience, we went to Parkhead expecting to be mesmerised by the men in the Hoops.
