    Like Messi at Barcelona, it's easy to be loyal to a team built around you paying you hundreds of thousands of pounds a week.

    This could help Liverpool in the long run, he's done.

    Gerrard, Keane, Vieira, Fabregas and Toure are the best centre-mids i've seen in the EPL. Gerrard the best attacking, Fabregas the most creative and Keane, Vieira and Toure are hard to split, i'd say Toure has the most quality but Keane and Vieira were better defensively and better leaders for their teams as was Gerrard they'd be my top 3.

    Vastly over-rated.



    Some people are deluded putting him as the best midfielder to grace the PL and in the top 3,crazy.

    Keane,Viera,Toure,Scholes,Lampard....all easily miles better.

    I'm with Mr.Baws on this one, in fact I don't think there's been a more overrated player.... full stop.

    On the contrary to popular belief he's actually been remarkably inconsistent and has rarely stood out in big battles vs Chelsea, United, Arsenal, City etc. In games against United Scholes, Keane and even Carrick would absolutely control the games vs Liverpool, Alonso would always try his best when he was there but Gerrard would alwyas go hiding. Same in games against Chelsea.

    If you want to say it wasn't his role then he wasn't as consistent a goal-scoring midfielder as Lampard, who's the definition of a real big game player. Even now Toure arguably plays the same role as Gerrard played and is on another planet to Gerrard. Even Fabregas has done far more.

    The only reason he gets so much praise is based on the fact he's Liverpool through and through, a good leader and Istanbul and 2006 FA Cup final have ridiculously skewed peoples views of him.

    My favourite epl midfielder growing up..

    Been on the way out for a few years but was absolutely quality in my opinion regardless if he was or wasn't rated as the best in his department..
