    There was an interesting interview in the Telegraph with Gerrard the other day, where he discusses not joining Chelsea, and Luis Suarez;

It's amazing that there'll still together after that, small circuit Liverpool and it must have been a proper embarrassment for Gerrard at the time..
He was with Jennifer Ellison aswell and then the gangster shacked up with her so effectively they just swapped partners..

Was talking to someone(Chelsea fan) the other day about lampard and he was saying who in England was better than him at his peak era to which I replied first off my head..
Scholes and then Gerard how could I forget popped up,whatever people think of this guy he was one of the top players in the world and probably my favourite midfielder growing up,he was that good!
Great pro who had everything and carried a big club on his own!

A lot of people criticise him nowadays because he doesn't score half as much as he used to. But that's because he plays much deeper than he ever has done before, he's more like Alonso than Gerrard of '09. And infact he's playing better this and last year than he did the prior 2

Whatever people may think of him as a person, and lets be honest, when compared with the likes of John Terry he's not that bad a guy, he's a top class player.

I for one hope that he does lift a league title with Liverpool before he retires. It's highly unlikely, but he deserves it.

Quite possibly mate - that's the best (non-Celtic) game I've ever witnessed.

Gerrard is one of my favourite footballers - and I don't care who kens it :bbpd:

Gerrard is the football player everyone dreamed of being as a kid. A strong tackler, agile and a leader playing midfield who could pass for fun and leathered the ball into the net from all angles and distances for the team he grew up supporting. He was like a real "Roy of the Rovers", especially the European Cup comeback win, was like something out a book.

At his best from about 2004-2009 he was one of the top 10 players around.

Speak for yourself, I dreamed of being Matt Le Tessier, a football genius who didn't have to do all that bothersome running part.

The fact it's for the club he loves and supported makes it that much more special aswell, from an absolutely class player at his peak..

Stevie G retires from international football

    Just announced.

Not a big surprise really, he's in his mid 30's now and probably needs to start conserving his energy if he wants to play every week for Liverpool. He's been a top player for England, they'll miss him and his experience.

That's most of the 'golden generation' gone now and England have totally * it up against the wall.

    G Neville
    A Cole
    R Ferdinand
    J Terry
    S Gerrard
    F Lampard
    P Scholes
    D Beckham
    A Shearer
    M Owen
    W Rooney

So many really talented players they've had in the last 10-15 years and they've never even come close to winning anything. Funny isn't it? :smiley-laughing002:

I was never too fussed about his performances for England, but I always respected him for turning down Chelsea when they were showing interest and staying with Liverpool.

A one club man, and worthy of respect for that in this day & age.

He was England's best player by far at euro 2012. I have a lot of respect for him staying at Liverpool his whole career when he could have gone on to better things.

I don't think Shearer counts tbh.

In reality they were very unlucky.

2002 - They beat Brazil and they prob would have won it.
2004 - If they beat Portugal then I'd expect them to go on and win.
