Didn't bother posting in this thread. Got my own opinions on the player and will end up fighting all the forum defending him.

 

You're obviously very biased against England because there is no way in * the English Premiership is any less than the 2nd best league in the world.

And i'm sorry but Seosamh's comments are crazy, being hard working makes you world class?!? Ok then Kenny Miller is the best out there!

And to call Gerrard lazy is ridiculous beyond belief, he has better fitness and stamina levels, not to mention loyalty and professional dedication which are better than 99% of footballers ever.

 

Some of the comments in here are laughable

 

Its behind La Liga, the Bundesliga and Serie A.

The 8th best team in Spain * slapped Man United. Says it all really.

 

Why don't you give your opinion on the situation. Show us why we're being laughable instead of just saying it.

 

The most exciting league, to say it's the 4th best is a *-take to quite frank.

Laughable that you can't even grasp what is being said. I in no way said, nor implied, that it was simply hard-working players that're world class. I don't even know how you can get to that point.

Nothing to back up the bolded part either, considering he only plays a quarter of the number of games most players in Europe now do. Not to mention he decided at one point in his career to leave Liverpool, by handing in a transfer request. Doesn't exactly shout 'loyalty' to me.

Not that you will agree with even 1% of it because you have your I AM RIGHT NO ONE ELSE IS glasses on.

IMO i still think he is in the top 20 midfielders in the world. When fully fit. He showed his class against Everton last week. He is a born leader and can still lead Liverpool to more glory. Not exactly played much recently but it doesn't mean he still ain't class.

 

The debate was on quality, excitement wouldn't support Gerrard's position now would it?

The fact this is even being discussed tells me he is not World Class.

 

I know Liverpool fans who that still doesn't sit well with. I think it's relevant when discussing his legacy. It has tainted his 'one club man' status.

Also, considering we're mostly talking about the past player we know, I definitely think it warrants a mention, especially if you're going to bring up loyalty and dedication.

I had him top 30 even though markey keeps saying I put 30 people ahead of which us simply untrue.

He will never win anything of any great importance again and that's a fact.

 

Some of the quotes in here are just brillaint, honestly, this thread has got me through work with my sanity in tact.

Jack Wilshere better than Gerrard? Prem being the 4th best league in the world? Gerrard is finished? Gerrard isn't even in the top 40 mids in the world?

Why don't we move on to Messi? I think Ryan Noble is better than him coming through the Sunderland ranks because he's younger and has more potential, I don't care what he's achieved.

 

He won a Carling cup only a few weeks ago mate, it's still a big trophy to the fans and the players.

 

Spot on if he was world class right now we wouldn't even be having this discussion because it would be so obvious.
