Neil Lennon has told Sky Sports News that Celtic are interested in free agent Steven Fletcher after his departure from Sheffield Wednesday.

The Celtic boss confirmed talks had taken place with the striker's representatives but was keen to point out Fletcher was just one of a number of options for the Scottish champions.

Fletcher rejected a new deal with Sheffield Wednesday at the end of a season where the Scottish forward scored 13 times in 30 appearances for the Owls last term.

The 33-year-old began his career with Hibernian before moving south of the border to play for Burnley, Wolves and Sunderland before arriving at Hillsborough.

Overall Fletcher has scored 38 goals in 100 starts and 36 substitute appearances for Wednesday after joining four years ago.

I'd definitely take him and I think the idea of hin bringing some more leadership and experience to the dressing room is a good one.

Hope it's still on. Along with someone younger that is.

Not for me. This type of transfer, aging ex epl/efl players with a view to adding experience and depth, has yet to work out positively for us.

Juninho, Dublin, Keane, ljunberg, Cole, kazim-richards. Could even add compper to that list, albeit never played in England.

From what players of this generation say about him he's an excellent player. Very good technically. Need a bit of strength up top and a player to support the volume of games we will have. With 2 up front he's a very good option for us

Do you just ignore Griffiths and Klimala and the possibility of another signing like Ajeti or Toney?

Hard to believe his magnificent hat trick against Gibraltar was over 5 long years ago now...The first Scotland international to bag a hat trick since Colin Stein in 1969. Bring him home!

a player scoring 1/2 in the championship isnt on the way out i dont think. i feel a season like this getting someone who knows the league, knows what it means playing for celtic with plenty experience is a no brainer. i think he would score for fun up here and his link up play with moi and forrest could be frightening when required

Scared to wake up to the 'Carlton Cole' thread tomorrow!

I mean we have basically done the rounds with this striker thing, may as well work backwards now!

Wouldn't be against it if the deal was right. Would be an excellent player for Klimala to learn about hold-up play from.

Griff is injured just now for how long we don't know and if klimala was in with a shout we wouldn't be looking for another striker

A season as important as this - going for an incredible 10 league titles in a row FFS and we are * about left right and centre trying to get a striker in. Open the biscuit tin Peter, pay the money and get the players in that want to go into the history books.

Every year is the same - and i hoped and thought this year would be different - maybe Peter will splash the cash to bring home the ten - still waiting...

We would if Eddie was off.
Surely I'm not the only one worried at the way the club is jumping from one striker to another?
We should be getting other positions sorted first but we are just going from striker to striker.

Someone is moving on I think that's a given!
