Just looking at the transfer betting from Skybet to see if there is any indication of possible signings and surprisingly he is just 9/4 2nd fav to sign for us with Stoke being favourites at 7/4 in this window

  2. From Stephen McGowan at The Daily Mail

Celtic have opened talks with former Scotland striker Steven Fletcher over a one-year deal.

The Parkhead side have suffered frustration in their attempts to land Peterborough’s Ivan Toney and ’s Albian Ajeti.

And while talk of an agreement is premature, Sportsmail understands Fletcher is prepared to turn his back on a two-year, £18,000 a week offer from Championship Stoke to join Celtic instead.

A free agent after leaving Sheffield Wednesday, the 33-year-old wants the champions to up their offer and match the two years up for grabs in England.

After moving back to Scotland recently, however, the ex-Hibs and Burnley attacker is giving serious consideration to a 12-month take-it-or-leave deal on less cash to finally land a move to Parkhead after a big-money move fell through in 2009.

Fringe striker Vakoun Issouf Bayo is set to leave on a season-long loan, with French club Toulouse favourites to secure his services.

Celtic have also looked at a possible loan move for Manchester City academy graduate Lukas Nmecha.

CELTIC aren’t poised to announce the free transfer capture of Steven Fletcher but he IS in Neil Lennon’s thinking.

A well placed Hoops source tonight told SunSport no deal has been agreed for the 33-year-old who is leaving Sheffield Wednesday and would jump at the chance of moving to Parkhead.

We’ve also been assured there AREN’T currently contract negotiations with the former Burnley, Wolves, Sunderland and Marseille hitman.

Lennon, however, is a fan of ex-Hibernian hero Fletcher and has been well aware of the possibilities over recent weeks

Peterborough United’s Ivan Toney and West Ham’s Albian Ajeti remain firm targets too, with the latter viewed as an initial loan signing.

It’s understood former Scotland star Fletcher is that keen on the prospect of playing for the nine-in-a-row champions he’d be happy to accept terms less than he could attract remaining in England, with Stoke City ready to table a two year contract offer.

Celtic baulked at a £4 million asking price for Fletcher from Hibs in January, 2009.

Lennon’s carefully considering all options and won’t be rushed into any moves.

Scottish Sun saying we have NO deal in place for Fletcher

  11. I'm not too keen on Fletcher, but I actually think that signing him on a free transfer is preferable to paying way over the odds for Toney.

As a straight swap for Bayo? Fine, I guess. I just hope that we plan to bring in someone like Ajeti, as well.

Can't see how anyone could be upset with..

Edouard, Klimala, Griff and Fletcher as our striking options.

    Very good options.

I'd definitely take him. Here's hoping we can be fighting on all fronts with cup runs and enough depth for the league. Eddie, Griff, Klimala and Fletcher. Yes please

A no risk deal for me, would certainly chip in over the course of the season.

    Aye up ye come Fletch!!
Would have 4 strong options up front...

That said... Eddy goes before the window and were left with an unreliable Griff, untested Klimala and a ageing Fletcher to bring in the 10!
But I mean that just shows how vital it is we keep the big french *!

The Scottish Sun have NO * idea about anything mate. :86:

I'll wait til Celtic confirm it but I'd be happy with him as an option.

As a back up, I think it’s a decent signing. He will score goals when he has to fill in.
