Haven’t seen an awful lot of him since he joined Dundee but a lot of people haven’t been impressed.

Not sure about him but don’t want to waste more money on a defender at Dundee that isn’t good enough to step straight in to the team and make a difference.

I think it speaks volumes that Rodgers didn’t take him before he went to Dundee but maybe he just wanted to see how he would get on elsewhere first.

 

It’s a no from me.

Wonder if we can sell them back Hendry though?

TBH I haven't really seen much of him up here. I had heard good things about him before he had personal problems and that. If we had to take someone up here I'd probably settle for him. Should really be getting somone in proven and ready to go.

 

You can't get any worse than what we have. Under the circumstances I think it's an excellent suggestion.

 

Another ordinary Dundee centre-half is not what we need.

There must be a Denayer-type sitting in a super-club's reserves that we can lure away.

 

Mind he did have a good spell with Tottenham (I think) and was well regarded at the time. So he does have a bit of pedigree albeit it would need to brought back out in him, something that Rodgers could possibly do. I know he hasn't exactly set the heather alight in his time with Dundee though.

Honestly, this is a signing i'd expect Aberdeen/Sevco to make, it's about their level, as a marquee signing. Not good enough for Celtic as a first team regular, adequate backup perhaps but we have plenty of those.

It's important to recognise the different circumstances. For a start he would've been free and on a very low wage/pay as you play deal. Now we'd be paying anything upwards of £1 million and also he'd be commanding a reasonable wage.

Also in January we were comfortable domestically and had options to turn to if he was no good. Now we have 1 fit central defender that you could depend upon in Ajer, the rest are either nowhere near the standard required, want a move away or both.

Our immediate need is much greater as we watch our Champions League hopes hang in the balance after another defensive calamity and then a Hearts frontline consisting of a English League 2 cast-off and Kyle Lafferty ragdoll us at the back.

Caulker is no longer the cheap gamble he was in January and as such the money would be better being put towards a strong, experienced defender that can go into the first team straight away.

 

I don't give a * what it costs, the centre half position needs sorted.

Where exactly is he scouting?

Caulker, McKenna, Denayer?

That's the best he can come up with?

Basically SPL players or someone who has already played for us.
