It’s not even close, Welsh is a far better player in every aspect.

I don't mind Starfelt, I think he can do a job for us, but between him and Welsh, the latter gets the nod from me every time. Just don't really remember him making the kind of critical errors like we saw today, and he's generally very tidy with his play.

110% above Starfelt in the pecking order for me.

Another solid reliable performance from this boy yesterday, playing out of position.

Got breezed off the ball with ease second half and nothing came from it..

If that was Starfelt it would've 100% been highlighted in his thread..

Don’t think he’s nearly as good as people make him out to be, loses his man and gets caught out too much for me but of all our cbs fit now I would deffo have him starting ahead of starfelt

As much as i'd have him starting ahead of Starfelt, i don't think either of them are the answer tbh.

Well aye, one is a young guy learning his trade and doing very well. The other is one of the most expensive defenders in out history at his peak who keeps * up.

IMHO they are solid options as the number 3 and 4 center backs. But for me either Jullien is back after the winter break or we still need to go sign a center back.

This is how i see it.

I'd be content to see how Jullien fairs following his return but ideally I'd still be looking at CCV on a permanent and a new, commanding CB in the summer.

They’re different types of defender. I think Starfelt does more that stands out, but both for better and worse.

Welsh is one of those players that you barely notice - usually in a very good way, but not always. He’s just very steady. Frankly, I’d rather have that than some of the CBs we’ve had in the past, who had a habit of drawing attention to themselves for the wrong reasons. Starfelt isn’t quite in that category for me - he’s a decent defender himself, and a good option for us - but I slightly prefer Welsh.

Yep but been in our first team since last season..

You could say the other is still finding his feet from moving to a completely different tempo of football and culture..

It would've 100% been highlighted is all I'm saying..

Starfelt rightly gets criticised but the same time everything gets picked out regarding him..

I don't remember that, but even still, I really can't remember him making the kind of mistakes that Starfelt has.

As I said previously, I actually don't mind Starfelt, yesterday he was alright aside from his mistake, which admittedly was pretty horrendous, but I'd take Welsh any day as a starter ahead of him.

Aye at 21 and not even a full season of football under your belt you aren’t the finished article. Calling out for people to be harder on our prospects is infuriating because we’re * arseholes to them in general :56:

    That's fair enough..

I'd still have Starfelt above Welsh but would like an improvement on both..

Starfelt does lose his way noticeably and has an error in him but i also don't think Welsh is any better....and his positional sense isn't too good..

As you say, he was generally pretty dominant until the * up and then other * up straight after. Then went on a mazy wee run that we could've scored from if I remember right and was getting in first on the striker quite dominantly after..

    He's a weird one..

That is true I admit :56:

Welsh should be starting ahead of Starfelt for me. He hasn't done much wrong and is a steadier player. Starfelt might have an 8 or 9 performance followed by a 4. Welsh is usually a solid 6 most games.
