The more I see that the more embarrassed I feel for McManus. There's no defending it, absolute disgraceful challenge. Had it been Weir on McGeady these boards would be red hot with angry posts.

It was a professional foul, nothing more

We don't agree on much but I'm 100% with you here.

As Ive already said, if we'd been 1-0 up people would be applauding him for a 'clever foul' and 'taking one for the team'.

See in hindsight he doesn't (arguably) need to take Driver out because N'guemo is going through the middle and Caldwell is already on the 18 yard line

What you mean like 'Mr Backpass' - Paul Hartley did to Barry Ferguson in the 3-2 Parkhead win?

Everyone seemed to think that Sunday league tackle was * wonderful, I'm guessing because, hmmm .. lets see .. we won?

Like I've said, if we'd been winning 1-0 at the time, no one would give a *, instead, as we lost, we're treated to this nonsensical thread.

Roy Aitken, Roy Keane and the like made a habit of tackles like that when they were * off.

You can't compare those 2 though, they are completely different scenarios.

Barry Robson rattled Christian Dailly within 5 minutes at Parkhead in the season we wrapped up 3 in a row which was an extremely clever move. He was never going to be sent off, it was designed to put the * up the huns and it set the tone for the rest of the match which we dominated. All McManus' done was highlight the fact Andy Driver has the beating of him for cleverness, pace and skill because he is an utterly useless centre half that has to resort to cheating to stop opponents.

You cannot defend that tackle, if it was Henrik Larsson that commited it you still can't defend it. It's not some clever cynical lunge that might put McManus in danger of being sent off but be good for the team. We were getting beat, he was miles out of position and he resorted to being a cheat. A complete disgrace.

No its very defendable, I assure you.

If I was Celtic captain and a winger had done me for pace in injury time, when 1-0 down, I think its fair to say I would've hit the * as well, as would've Billy McNeil, Roy Aitken, Paul Lambert and Neil Lennon I reckon.

    Hail Hail Mick :50:

Easy to sit on your high horse behind a PC mate, picture yourself 1-0 down in injury time in front of an angry Celtic Park.

The thread is so 'nonsensical' it has now reached 11 pages! Clearly people feel the incident merits discussion. :bbpd:

Oh, and if McManus did that when we were 1-0 up, I would neither laugh about it or think it was wonderful. I'd still say it was a shocking challenge because it was.

It's not a high horse mate. There are certain standards of conduct and behaviour in football and life in general, and I personally would not encourage or wax lyrical about anyone who flagrantly violates those rules of engagement.
