Sky Sports is usually a few hours behind when it comes to Celtic or Scottish football in general so they're prob just reporting the old story

this signing and this season is driving me mad !!

 

I'm not holding out for him just think it's a bit comical. But it doesn't say he's signed. Mentions reports from Spain that's all, the whole article is based on old news before this supposed u-turn on Getafe.

Sky Sports understands Celtic's move for Sporting Gijon striker Stefan Scepovic could be back on after it appeared he might be joining Getafe instead earlier on deadline day. It appears the move to Getafe has stalled and now Celtic are finally hoping to lure the player to Celtic Park.

From what I've read Getafe were really serious about him. They had agreed a fee with Gijon (see below) and had arranged the medical today in time for the window closing. However when they all sat down with the player and Agents, he has recently changed To 2 Agents, Getafe said 'No' to his demands. So he is stuffed because of below.
btw in previous post should have said Gijon and not Getafe needed to reduce their wage bill. So my apologies. However principle applies.

What you've got to appreciate is that Secunda sides have a wage bill cap for the squad. When I read the local press about Scepovic, it stated that in order for Gijon to buy anyone, not only had they to sell Scepovic, they also had to get another player off the wage bill. Unless they reduce their bills Gijon, are up against it. On top of that Gijon paid €1m in February, which was on top of the €3.5m they paid 12 months ago, and extended his contract to 2018.

So Gijon are desperate to sell him to meet their wage cap.They have had 2 deals accepted by other Clubs but are being stuffed by the player. I may be wrong on next bit.

Suppose Scepovic doesn't sign for anyone, what happens to Gijon. In order to meet their wage cap, they either have to loan Scepovic to someone, which means they are out of pocket on the money they've spent or they need to keep him and loan other players. Celtic and Getafe gave Gijon an 'out' but because the player said 'no' they appear to be up against the wall with hours to go.

I feel the same mate but if we do sign him and he scores goals then I'm happy that's all I want goals and lots of them.

 

Ah, makes it clearer. Seems a pretty sticky situation for all involved, hopefully the * makes up his mind soon and puts this to bed.
