Think the only time we'll see him leave is when Ronny goes, the guys his lieutenant here and will be getting lined up as the next captain.

Nonsense , if he performs well in Europe next season he will undoubtedly be the next one off of the celtic conveyer belt to the EPL for ten million odd. Loads of clubs will be keeping tabs .

    My thoughts exactly.

As can anyone else that thinks they can nab him on the cheap before his glorious European form next season.

Even if he was going to go to the Bundesliga he wouldn't go to Hamburg, he's a smart guy and seems to know the values of the club and you don't get fans better than Celtic so he won't care much about interest from any club right now. If he was to go in the future, it would be to a top club in England or Germany, that's what i think anyway.

I don't think his destination would be the EPL, for one.

He strikes me as the type of player that alot of clubs down there wouldn't value so high.

Know what else I love about Stefan? He's a great player we all know that, but his work rate is unbelievable! Last year in Europe he chased down everything, put the keepers under pressure n he squeezed defences to make them play the ball! I really love the passion he shows for us... Like the attacking (more creative) equivalent of broony I think with his attitude on the pitch

This guy is quickly becoming one of my favorites. He has an incredible engine and is also able to get in the box and get goals. His style is actually kinda similar to Petrov really. Can see this guy becoming a legend for us. And also Hamburg, Sunderland and all these pish teams can * off....especially for the 7mil thats been quoted. This guy is a class above these teams and would easily walk into a top 6 EPL team like Spurs or Liverpool. And if Sterling is worth 50 million :)31:) then surely Stefan is worth at least 20 million

Clubs don't sell their captains unless it's for crazy, CRAZY money and as I said I think he's being prepped for that role.

That's about 5 years down the line most likely, 8 if Broony gets his way. I'd be gobsmacked if Johansen is still here.

    * I'd be surprised if Ronny is.

If we must sell a player this season then I would sell him. My reasoning is that we have three players who could move for decent money, VVD, Stefan, and Bitton. The replacements for Stefan and Bitton are already at the club. Henderson will step in for Nir and Armstrong for Stefan in the long run. However VVD will be leaving making us weaker so it makes it extra important to tie the other two down to long term contracts now. Even though he is vital to how we played last year I still think we could take the hit of losing him rather than VVD.

Daft reasoning though because Van Dijk wants to go.

Not really. Yesterday you wrote that you wanted us to follow the Porto model. They only sell when the replacement is already at the club and ideally for an extended period of time. In the case of Johanson and Bitton we have players that I would be confident of filling their shoes (albeit with an adjustment period). I know that VVD wants to go but he is under contract for another 2 years and rightly we should not be selling him until we have his replacements here and ideally settled.

Desperate to keep Guidetti, who was definitely leaving; doesn't mind losing Johansen, who's definitely staying. Good grief. :smiley-laughing002:
