Stefan Johansen

Discussion in 'Ex Players' started by SloBhoy, Jan 15, 2014.

  1. Agree to disagree but if it's a straight choice between Johansen and Kayal....Jo every time.

  2. Deila will never drop him thats his bhoy

  3. Johansen is a terrible, terrible player. He is probably the main reason we are so bad today, everything is going through him and his passing and tackling are absolute *.

  4. Terrible player? * *.

This international break will hopefully help everyone get things together, hopefully he will be back to his old self afterwards.

  5. Bitton is much better!

Johansen tries hard, but that's about it. He lacks actual footballing quality imo. I do like my tall, ball playing midfielders though.

Bitton is very very good on the ball. Much better than Johansen.

Johansen is just a * Scott Brown.

    * I cant wait till Broony is back...

  6. He definitely doesn't look like the same player at the moment, to be fair, he's not alone.

  7. Lacks footballing quality?

Where are people getting this from, did you just start watching this season or something?

    * Scott Brown? for * sakes. :56:

  8. Nope.

Main reason was everything was through the middle just like ICT - that's down to tactics - and it was slow, mainly because of Kayal who will play a square, short pass, which allows the opposition to sit behind the ball. We then move as a team towards opposition goal, still playing short cross-field passes, the midfield becomes congested, we loose the ball, they play it wide or over the top and we get into trouble.

Johansen on other hand tries to play a 'forward' ball - short or long diagonal. He also gets into the mix either trying to break down opposition play or create something.

Kayal is slow, plays square passes, usually short passes, that allows opposition time to get behind the ball. Would be a terrific player in lower regions of EPL or Championship where they have more space but up in SPFL, a luxury.

Johansen is more direct - an attacking midfield player.

Can't believe I'm defending the guy because against Maribor - both legs - he caused us a lot of pain, but to say he was the main reason today, Nope..Square and Slow Kayal needs to speed up his passes and look for the forward ball rather than the easy square one.

  9. I've watched pretty much all our games since he's come. He just runs around like a headless chicken. That's all he does. All game.

  10. Johansen isn't the problem it's Kayal. While Browns out it should be Johansen and Bittton.

  11. i thought johansen don't ok today

  12. Thank you Yoda. Agree, but when Brown is fir, it would be the BJ's in the middle.

  13. do you think he'll play broony at the back if van dijk goes or revert to a 5 in the midfield if van dijk stays ?

I can't see Bitton starting in midfield once Broony comes back

  14. Johansen should be pushed further forward, I think he would be much better suited to the role Commons played today. He'll close the ball down all day long which we need up there, we need to start winning the ball back much higher up the pitch. Also he gives the ball away far too often in CM.

  15. MATT I think he needs to work on his upper body strength he needs to toughen up abit he jumps out of tackles

Johansen will flourish when we become a settled side, his work rate is second to none and his passing is quality.

He is suffering the same as everyone in this current slump.

  17. he isn't afraid to play that forward killing pass he has great work rate I'd like to see his tackling improve and track back aswell as pushing forward like a petrov type player

  18. I think his ideal set up would be

    Gordon

Lustig ,VVD/O'Connell, Denayer, A N Other or Charlie Mulgrew

    Forest/McGregor, Brown Johansen Wakaso

    Scepovic Commons/Stokes

I think he'll stick big Gordon up top to play lone striker, Brown as a sweeper come Goalie, Efe is only allowed to do keepie ups, Forrest for RB when's he's fit & if we're losing Bitton will come on with the instruction to take a touch and shoot from the halfway line eveytime. Oh and Stefan can do whatever Stefan wants.

  19. He's a good player. Can spot a pass and is the energty in the middle of the park. I really think that a two man midfield is terrible though, can't control a game properly that way
