Kayal was done by the time he left us, which is a shame but the topic has been done to death now.

Johansen I always liked but most turned on him by the time he left. Had all the basic attributes to be a quality player for a Rodgers side.

Did Kayal no win POTY the following year? Johansen would have been excellent under Rodgers. People turned on him because they percieved him as Ronny’s mate and he was petulant.

Aye, a thought they were close to promotion.

Aye but I think he was noticeably bad. Especially with the emergence of Rogic and McGregor(2nd half) that season

They narrowly missed out. Kayal has been a success at Brighton, without doubt

Kayal was class until McCulloch * him over. He was never the same after that, and his tenacity dropped substantially, which was a shame as that was what his game was all about.

Johansen was just inconsistent from what I remember, good on his day, but disappeared a lot too. I think Rodgers could have worked well with both, but whether they'd have been good enough to get in front of Brown, Ntcham, Rogic, McGregor and Armstrong, who knows?

Aye, their fans love him from what I've seen.

Kayal was regarded as a great signing by Brighton fans.

    Where would he play?

He was completely ineffective anywhere else other than in the no.10 role and both Rogic & McGregor are levels above him as a footballer.

See that sort of half and half role that he had Armstrong playing? He’d have been excellent at that under Rodgers.

Funny thing is I never really liked him in the number 10, was rotten at playing with his back to goal.

I’m not gutted he was sold or anything, just think Rodgers would have made sure he thrived. Type of footballer he likes, same thing with Kayal for me.

We’ve moved onwards and upwards but they two under Rodgers would have taken themselves to different levels of footballers for me.

Johansen and Armstrong were similar in that their stamina and running power were pretty good but their touch and technical ability was often found lacking. Both could be easily wobbled with a hard challenge as well in my opinion.

They both could play in the no.10 role and exploit indecision over opponent's defence & midfield over who should be picking them up. But drop them further back where there was a greater onus on their touch, position, passing and often they came up a long way short of the standard required.

I would have him back. Used to run himself into the ground so shocked he wasn't part of Brendans plans

He was brutal at football when he was here, looked like he could run all day though. I am surprised Milan are interested.
