How long can a player be in 'poor form' for before he simply becomes a * player?

Well, that's exactly my point. We can't keep playing Johansen hoping he comes into a bit of form. He's been genuinely awful for over 9 months now.

So, like I said, McGregor is the better player right now.

THG67 is right. How long have we to wait for Johansen to play like he did a year and a half ago? The fact is Johansen has been relatively ordinary in his time here, except for a 3 or 4 month spell.

Johansen's record in Europe is quite decent for us.

4 assists and 2 goals in 6 qualifiers last year.
3 goals in the Europa in RD's first year.

He has been inconsistent as *. Genuinely awful? No chance.

And you've already had more than one person explain to you that you are talking * with that opinion.

No, as I said McGregor is in better form. He isn't the better player. :56:

If we sell everyone who loses form we would have about 4 players left this season.

McGregor and Johansen are not worth a place in the squad.

Nah. As I've already explained, the general feeling on this forum during the first few months of the 2014/25 season was that Johansen wasn't playing well enough to warrant a place in the team. He then had a great run of form before dipping again. Then last season he was pish.

Aye so right now McGregor is the better player?:50:

How long does "form" still remain a valid excuse? He's been playing the way he has for an entire season and all through this pre-season now.

For me, he's been average/pish more often than not since we signed him. He had a few good months a couple of seasons ago. Other than that he's never been that good.

well last season only about 4 players were good enough through out the season....the rest were just * rubbish for 90% of the time..we need to be careful with who we sell.
There is enough rubbish not even getting a game, lets get that gone first before we start selling the first 11-15 squad.

He has been bad more than he has been good in his time here so who is the real Johansen actually?

I would like nothing more than for him to start showing the form from the second half of his poty season but at some point it just becomes a purple patch and not actually indicative of the player he can be.

You seem to really dislike a player who has performed well for us in McGregor, why?

You're really struggling with the form is temporary class is permanent cliche.

The general feeling from Celtic fans, Celtic players, every other player and members of the football media were he was the best player in Scotland 2 years ago.

Those are the facts, despite your opinion.

That's a fair point. I don't think you can say Johansen is going through a bad run of form now. It could well be the performance levels that we have seen from him over the past year are the norm, and his fantastic six month spell was an exception to the rule.

Wonder if it is form or actual desire, head turned and wanting away or does he really want to stay if BR creates a vision of how he'd be played?

Is he good enough for where I'd like to see the squad go.......that's debatable as showed us some fantastic performances but was that a purple patch he'll never rediscover as his eagerness to chase ball and get pulled out of position is a worry......not as bad as Gravesen yet :icon_mrgreen:

I'd like to keep if fully committed if not make some cash and let him go as we have 3 teams of midfielders.

I just cant see the things some see in him, I tracked him a bit when he was on loan at notts county and saw what he can do and thought he sometimes looked decent, also sometimes as CAM in Ronnys team. He isnt the creative ball holding player some want him to be, he is a second striker/CAM who can score some goals and has a ok link up play. He gives his everything and I support him for that but i dont think he is good enough to play in a position like CM or anywhere in the team. Rogic and Commons for example would still be better for that kind of role.
He never wins a tackle, players get past him too easily, he looses to many one on ones fighting for a ball etc.

I wouldn't be sad to see him go, at this point. Should have sold him in January when Villa were allegedly offering big money.

I disagree on his position. I think his future in in centre midfield. He does have work to do on his defensive game, but he is a good passer, plays it quick, always looks for it, is a goal threat, mobile. He's certainly not a "useless *" as you said the other day
