He most definitely wasnt awful. In fact up until about 60 minutes he was one of the best players on the park. He got tired and made some slack passes, but in the first half his passing and work rate was top class. There are a few scapegoats for todays performance but Johansen isn't one of them imo.

He had all the space in the world vs St.Mirren and played well, he didn't get that luxury today.

Aberdeen pressed high all game and he along with broony looked average, albeit he made a few gd tackles I thought his passing was poor today.
Aberdeen bossed the centre of the park and that cost us our place in the next round.

He will come good though, after all It's only his 2nd game in the hoops.

Today Brown and Biton should of been sitting with Johansen in front of them to get the ball forward and create. He covered for both wingers constantly today pulling him and brown out of position, not his fault and at least he * tried.

Guys great at harassing and closing down but his passing was abysmal today and him and Scott brown were bullied in the midfield!

One great game and one * one.

Let him settle. I think he'll go on to be a fantastic signing.

Got lost in the midfield battle today but tbf we had no other midfielder playing who can hold up the ball and let Johanson get into a bit of space, he got caught up in a midfield tussle a don't think he is used to atm.

Defended well i thought but his forward passing and attacking was very poor.

At least he has shown signs that he is a decent player this early on. Obviously he will need time to settle in and get to 100% match sharpness. I don't think we will need to wait too long to see the best of him. He is certainly one for the here and now.

It's also worth noting that a) he was a winger until three years ago and b) in that time he's only ever been in a three-man midfield at club and international level. The movement in the side is completely different. His eye just needs to develop a bit more.

Interesting you saying that, Diegan. The first thing I thought when I saw him today was 'He looks bit lightweight to be a centre mid in a 4 or 2 man midfield. He does look like a guy that would be more suited to playing in a 3 man central midfield or in the attacking midfield role behind the forward(s).

Yep, he's scrappy but a bit lightweight. He does everything he can with his size, but it's limited. I have thought for a while that we could have a brilliant Italian-style Christmas-tree formation. With a front six of:

    ---------Biton----------
    -Brown---------Johansen-
    -------------------------
    ----Commons---Pukki-----
    ------Balde/Fridj/Stokes/Griffiths/Watt

(I think you can see what I think about our striker-signing policy)

I've thought for a while that Pukki could be brilliant cutting in. He's got a shot with his right foot, his left is serviceable, he makes intelligent runs, uses space well, and pressures well. His finishing just isn't justifying a spot as a main striker, but his all-round game has not been lacking.

He got muscled off the ball far too easy today, really early days to stick it on a new guy after a couple starts but I wasn't impressed..
    Passing was woeful!

It's not even as if he hasn't played well though. He won man of the match on his full debut. A performance like this should have been expected at some point in these first few months, not a surprise. I hope he doesn't get dropped as that's the last thing that would help him settle. A foreigner coming to a new style of play and a new system can't be scared of making mistakes. If you watch our side, they play scared and always want to pass off responsibility. Having a guy with the balls to try some things is a rarity for us and we can't scare it out of him or he'll be ruined, as that's the sole reason we brought him in.

He won't and shouldn't get dropped, he was left over ran as was broony with no help from the wings, especially Sammy and it stood out like a sore thumb our weaknesses today..

We had a lot of pass the buck merchants today,we went back to the slow side to side passing that then goes back and we play long balls that go nowhere,* *!

Yeah, it's the Tony Mowbray formation. Two central midfielders who are stranded by two wingers who insist on staying forward. In that position the central midfielders are routinely left in 2v1, 4v2, even 5v2 situations. It's ridiculous. Aberdeen saw a weakness that's been there during our run and exploited it.

I thought he was quite poor today. His passing was slack. At least he worked hard though.

I like that sort of idea, I personally would like
    -----------Biton----Mulgrew-----------

    -Commons----Pukki----Johansen-
    ---------------Griffiths---------------

    Far from it.

Made a few slack passes but the majority found a 'tic player.
