    It's hard for me to comprehend how people cannot see the talent in a guy that was POTY 2 seasons ago. Last season under Ronny was one of the least inspiring squads since Mowbray. Ronny admitted the job was too much for him and it reflected onto the pitch. To suggest a manager like Brendan couldn't bring the best out of him is idiotic.

    That said, Turkish media are allegedly reporting the deal has been made. We'll wait and see.

    Because he's a top class footballer and for the league we play in we can't expect much better and if we did have better they wouldn't want to be here anymore than two years. A player who isn't money orientated and isn't itching to leave at the first sign they get from the EPL, we should be grateful for having someone with an attitude like that it's refreshing and should be applauded.

    This is my line of thinking as well.

    As rotten as they both were last year it worries me that it looks as though we are having to sell in order to bring in.

    Just said the exact same thing in the rumours thread however I was under the impression there would be a budget there regardless.

    There might well be and perhaps Rodgers is about to go on a £40m spending spree but I doubt that:smiley-laughing002:

    But what kind of player would we buy in place of him for £2m that's of his level? (assuming all £2m goes into the transfer funds which is not very likely). Most probably a replacement would be a downgrade, hopefully these Turkish media reports are bullshit and Brendan can convince him to sign a new contract.

    He won player of the year playing under the same Ronny Deila though. He should have been someone that Deila could rely on last season, but he was hopeless from start to finish.

    However we don't know the ins and outs. He might be refusing to sign a new deal and really pushing for a move.

    No matter how people rate him, £1m is dirt cheap for a player like him.

    Well said, he's a very good midfielder about SPL level. However last year he regressed and even in a poor team his attitude shone through as being (in my view) pretty petty and reckless.

    It's a shame the way it panned out but I'm happy for him to leave and keep a core CM of Biton + Brown/McGregor and Ajer/Henderson further backup. Although rumour is we're looking for another experienced CM.
