If he's not signed by new transfer window then sell.

But if he signs a new contract he'll still have a resale value, especially if his back problem is better and he performs well under Rodgers. He's 25 so he'll be heading into the peak years of his career.

I'd agree with you there, if we can get our £2 million outlay back on him this summer that's good business IMO.

I know we're only surmising but for Stefan to be digging his heels in over a deal after the season he's had is incredible. He should be thankful of any offer tbh, likewise with Forrest. Won't shed any tears if either go tbh, all too often the end product is not there.

They'll look back ruefully at what could've been under the Rodgers revolution when they become nothing more than Championship/League 1 journeyman.

I really dont know about Johansen. He is so inconsistent but he was POTY in Scotland 2 seasons ago so there is talent there. I would punt him if he doesnt sign a new deal. Norways vice captain, an experienced player and ex POTY- there is a player there.

He's an above average athlete with below average technical ability in my opinion. If he's to be played it has to be in the no. 10 role. Anywhere else does not get the most out of his freakish stamina. The problem being he is behind a few for that position IMO.

His discipline & passing isn't good enough for a sitting role, constantly left huge gaps last season when played there.

but the team has been through quite an upheaval in those 2 years not getting ronnies ideas and/or implementing them, i think we should re sign him and if he wants to go later on, we'll get a better amount of cash for him.
I wouldn't pay any heed to the tabloids they are always looking to stir things up, even more so now that the new club is back.
Don't know much about Brendan Rodgers but aren't his sides similar in play to what Ronnie was trying, if so then Johanssen is excellent when on form at that attacking central midfielder role.

Letting him run down his contract isn't an option, punting him with a year left similarly.

Tie him down, get his head right and he will flourish.

Can only happen if he wants to be tied down. His comments re a new deal don't scream enthusiasm to me.

I like him on the left hand side of a 3 man midfield as well, up and down the pitch all day, it's dangerous as *.

Him, Rogic or McGregor at the point of a 3-man midfield just slughtly agead of Brown and Bitton would be ideal for me.

Could leave us quite exposed that as well, be interesting how we do set up though. Everybody has been going on about one man up top... the most important thing for me is 3 men in midfield, boss the midfield battle, allow our better players up top room to play in and move.

Whether the 3 up top is like Lenny's diamond, with somebody like Rogic sitting in just behind and two strikers or a proper 433 with Roberts on the right, Griffiths in the middle and somecunt on the left. Probably Stokes is the most suited we have just now.

A midfield of Brown, Bitton, Johansen, McGregor and Rogic would give me shivers going into a European game. We need better quality and I'm positive Brendan knows this.

Agreed, Johansen certainly has the ability to make that position his own - his work rate is incomparable, like you said it really is dangerous as *.

Fitness and Stamina isn't the most important thing for a number 10. In fact it would be right down the list for me personally.

Technical ability, discipline and passing are all more important and are things you mention he isn't that great at. We need a Rogic type at number 10, not Johansen.

I rate him but I think you'd see a better player within a midfield 3 with more license to bomb up and down the park.

If we aren't going to operate with a proper midfield enforcer, then Bitton should be played deepest of all midfielders - a quarterback-type role - allow Brown to try and win the battle further up the pitch, with either Johansen/Rogic dropping deeper to assist the captain when on the defensive, and moving further up to assist the lone frontman when on the offensive.

See the funny thing is I think the best we've seen of Bitton in Europe is when we let him off the leash a bit and allowed him to get further forward against Ajax, he was a real terror to the defence and Brown held the role of anchorman very well, shielding the defence. Of course it went to * when Izzy got sent off but the midfielders we have just now are quite adapative.

    Lots of options for Rodgers.

Linked with a move to Fulham this morning. Reports suggesting they are looking him for around £2m.

We got £2.5m last summer for Matthews with a year left on his deal and that was after a couple of years of mostly average performances, Johansen is just a year removed from P.O.T.Y and his poor form last season was down to playing with a back injury, if he goes to England this summer we should be looking for £4m minimum but also with the hope that one of their stupid clubs does their usual and decides to overpay, * Fulham are a prime example of that as they were the side that shelled out £11m+add ons for Ross McCormack.
